BPGP: Revlon Magnifying Mirror

May 13, 2014

magnifymirror1I’m in the process of stocking my new apartment.  This means many trips to the drugstore, grocery store, etc.  On one of my excursions to Target, I found this magnifying mirror from Revlon ($7) and it is glorious.

A magnifying mirror is like a booster–it makes everything a little better and smoother.  Thanks to the mirror’s 10x magnification, my eyebrows have never been so well-groomed.  My liquid liner is now perfectly applied.  And my foundation and concealer are expertly blended.

I like this mirror so much, that I’m considering investing in a more expensive one.  Tweezerman makes a lighted magnifying mirror that sticks to the wall for $30.  I also found this pedestal mirror from Zadro that retails for $60.

I find myself using this magnifying mirror for a myriad of purposes, but without a doubt, the near flawless application of liquid eyeliner is number one on my list.  So if you want to see if a magnifying mirror can help you improve your makeup application or beauty rituals, $7 is a small price to pay.

  1. Thanks for these suggestions Belle, I have been looking all over for the right magnifying mirror, they are either too expensive or not worth it…I will have to look into these choices you have suggested..

I’ve heard the Simple Human mirror is amazing and has the closest equivalent to natural light possible, but at $200, I’m not sure if I can rationalize the investment until my current one bites the dust.

  3. Amanda says:

I highly suggest getting one that mounts on the wall and is lighted. Worth the $100, I’ve had mine for 10 years. Just be sure to tape a little note on the back with the part number for the replacement bulb or buy an extra when you buy the mirror because that can be a hassle to deal with. (But with LEDs now that’s probably not even an issue anymore!)

  4. RoseAG says:

I have a wall mounted mirror in my master bath, and it’s worth all the trouble it took to install it, but something like this might be just right for my downstairs powder room where I seem to end up applying make-up and lipstick on my way out the door.

I’ll have to see if it will stick to the mirror on the inside of the cabinet door.

  5. $7? Sold. I doubt I would spend much more than that, although the lighted mirror is tempting.

i need to find this mirror…thanks!

  7. Jamie says:

One tip for magnifying mirrors, be very careful when you’re looking at your skin. It can be so tempting to pick at your pores or at invisible pimples that are suddenly very visible when magnified.

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
