Zara Sleeved Shift Dress ($80)

Cap-sleeve dresses are a warm weather staple.  When you work in a professional office, sleeveless might be teetering on the line of inappropriate.  This little bit of sleeve lets you keep to a springtime/summertime silhouette while keeping things dress code friendly.

I also found this cowl neck dress in royal blue and charcoal.  This striped Ralph Lauren shift is also a good choice.  Tahari ASL also has a cap sleeve dress in jade that would be lovely for work, though it would benefit from a belt.

Plus-size?  This Calvin Klein dress has a great neckline and comes in black or blue.  Petite?  Ralph Lauren offers a very similar dress to the Zara in the same bright blue.  Tall? Ann Taylor offers a seamed sheath in colorblock of neutrals, also in petite and regular.

Cap sleeve dresses are ideal for summer–great post! Far too many women in my office think it’s appropriate to wear totally sleeveless dresses in the summer months.

Belle – Thank you for making me a big time Zara fan! The closest Zara is 1000 miles away, and while I know the online store sometimes isn’t the best, so far…it’s adding a lot of color and class to the wardrobe. Love the outfits I can put together from their line and soon, very soon, no one else in town will be wearing my clothes. GREAT FIND FOR ME!

Blerg. Such pretty dresses, but cap sleeves are so unflattering on my arms. A little extra or a little less fabric makes a huge difference in helping me avoid sausage arms. They do work really well for most people; I’m just venting.

Sigh, if only Zara’s clothing fit me…

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
