10th Commandment: April 9

Apr 9, 2014

Nude pumps were a huge trend a few years ago.  I still like to have a pair for spring dresses and colorful work outfits, because they create a blank canvas to build outfits with bold colors and prints.

However, if you’re over nude shoes, I recommend tortoise or snakeskin as an alternative.  Need something under-$50?  $24 at Target with both tortoise and snakeskin options.

Hope you don’t mind the link, but I am finding a blush shoe a nice alternative to the nude overload. Found these beauts at Target (https://www.target.com/p/women-s-merona-natasha-mid-heel-pump/-/A-14815245#prodSlot=large_1_4) – in the blush color – and I swear they look much more expensive than they actually are (well, I realize that isn’t hard at $23, but I mean they look legit) and they are very comfortable. May buy another pair since it’s such a good price.

  2. Cathy says:

I have those Michael Kors in the red color – cinnnabar. They are surprisingly comfortable and perfect for lots of work events and parties! I bet the nudes will be great for spring/summer.

  3. Lisa says:

I’m kind of over nude PATENT pumps, so I bought these Corso Como Del pumps in “Nude Burnish Calf”

    https://www.amazon.com/Corso-Como-Womens-Del-Burnish/dp/B009CNFC2W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397053174&sr=8-1&keywords=corso+como+del+nude

They are absolutely GORGEOUS and to me look more professional. They’re very comfortable, too, and I highly recommend them. I have them in black too to complete my standard work shoe collection.

  4. MM says:

I have moved to wedges more often as my feet get older and finicky. I have these from JCrew Factory and they are comfortable so far. I did size up 1/2 so that I could add cushioning if needed. Hard to see in the picture, but they are a rounded almond toe. They were also significantly cheaper in-store.

  5. I don’t think nude heels are every going to go really out of style. They may not be super trendy, but they’ll never be unstylish. I have a pair of Kate Spade Karolina pumps that I adore. They are super comfortable and a really nice shade.

    • Belle says:

I agree with that. It’s not that they’re unstylish, I just think that for some women, the days of wearing them as a solution to every fashion problem are over. I still wear mine, but I have other shoes I want to wear more now.

  6. LS says:

Does anyone have a nude flats recommendations that are as dressy as heels?

I have been scouring the internet, but have only found a few pairs nice enough to wear with suiting separates. I’d love to have some more options in case one of those doesn’t work out (very likely).

  7. Joules says:

I’m in the market for nude pumps, but Zara is the only retailer with comfortable pumps (at least on my feet). Crossing my fingers that they’ll come out with a nude pump this season.

  8. Anne says:

I found a pair of the style and co. pumps band new in a resale shop, but they were dark brown croc. They are very comfortable. I’ve also read good reviews on the Karmen pump from payless, of all places. I know they have nude along with an assortment of other colors.

  9. Sarah says:

I’ve loved patent since I was a toddler in patent Mary Jane kid shoes. I never get “over” it or into it because I always love it. I do have to dress formally for work. I think everyone just has their own timeless things. Now I wear grown-up patent Mary Janes 🙂 Ivanka Trump makes a perfect pair.

  10. Virginia says:

I usually don’t gravitate toward patent shoes (especially a heel) because NYC sidewalks eat up patent (in sidewalk gaps!) and they’re really hard to fix. So, when I needed a nude patent pump for a wedding, I didn’t want to spend a ton of money. Someone recommended I look a the ComfortFlex line at Payless (yes, Payless) and I can honestly say that I have the most comfortable pair of nude pumps ever. When I wear them, everyone asks where I got them and no one can believe they came from Payless. (And, I usually hate Payless!)

It’s worth a shot if you need a really really comfortable pair of nude pumps! For what it’s worth, I ended up buying the same pump in a tortoise shell pattern because they’re just so comfortable.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
