Full midi-skirts are in vogue for the spring season. This one from Dorothy Perkins allows you to indulge in a trendy piece without breaking the bank. I adore the ballerina pink hue and the wider pleats. The texture on the fabric is nice as well.
I also found this white Topshop skirt ($96) and this black Aqua skirt ($78). Prefer your midi on the slimmer side? This high-waist midi-skirt from Express ($59) and this printed OXO skirt ($46) are both nice choices.

I’d like to see how you would style this, especially for size 12 and up.
If you’re concerned about wearing a fuller skirt, belt it. I would tuck in a structured button up blouse and grab a wide stretchy belt to accentuate the waist. Also, fuller skirt means slimmer blouse. Choose a fuller blouse and you’re going to look like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man even if you’re a size -0.
How do you feel about midi skirts and dresses for us vertically challenged? I feel like that would just shallow me up and make me look even shorter.
I’m a short gal as well and I think it’s all about the length of the skirt – it shouldn’t fall more than an inch or two past your knees – and you have to wear heels with the skirt, no exceptions. Flats will just make you look stumpy.

It’s all about proportion and length. Don’t choose one that’s too full. Also, the length should be kept more at a “just below knee” length. A wedge or heel will help lengthen the leg as well.
I bought this J. Crew fairly full skirt (https://www.net-a-porter.com/us/en/product/410331?cm_mmc=ProductSearch-_-us-_-Skirts-_-Pleated&gclid=CPHC_puKi70CFcli7AodV1AAkw). I’m about 5’3″ and I had simmilar concerns. I think the key is fairly fitted tucked in top https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374306418056&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446612377&R=808895244727&P_name=Joie&N=1553+306418056+1808&bmUID=kiNB2GF) and of course heels.
But I think the thing that does the most for making the silhouette seem clean is about as nipped of a waist as you can handle.
i ordered that ASOS Curve skirt in navy during last week’s 20% off of sale sale. I’m *so* excited for it to come in!
