Jacket: Gap Printed Tweed Moto Jacket ($118)

From Left, Earrings: Pandora Aquamarine Studs ($50) Ring: Simon Sebbag Hammered Ring ($110) Bag: Leila Tote ($198) Shoes: Chinese Laundry Copertina Pump ($87) Blouse: Iris & Ink Silk Blouse ($120) Pants: Malene Birger Firoza Pants ($450)

From Right, Sunglasses: Coach Evita Sunglasses ($158) Earrings: Napier Drop Earrings ($16) Bag: Ivanka Double Handle Bag ($297) Shoes: INC Zitah Pumps ($70) Dress: Penelope Crepe Dress ($220)

For Late Winter.  If you’re looking for a basic, a navy trouser would pair well with this printed moto jacket.  But why be basic?  These pale blue pants from Malene Birger help bridge the gap between winter fashion and early spring styles.  Not feeling the pale blue?  What about red, purple or green?

A silk blouse with a stand collar is a great wardrobe basic.  I like this blouse from The Outnet, but I’m also partial to these Everlane tops.  Plus-size? Try this Pendleton blouse.  Petite? This Theory blouse is a good choice.

For the accessories, I went with grey and silver since the hardware on the jacket is white metal.  I like this Vince Camuto tote, but if you prefer a satchel, try this Rebecca Minkoff Bag.  I chose the earrings because they coordinated with the color of the trousers, and the ring for a bit of easy glamour.

The shoes are a dark grey suede pump because I hate when bags and shoes match exactly.  Prefer leather? These Mairi pumps from Nine West fit the bill.

For the hair, I would wear it down with a light curl and some teasing at the crown (this brush works best).  For the makeup, I would choose a berry-hued lip color and a grey charcoal liner.

For Springtime.  What says “spring” like a brightly colored dress?  This coral-pink number from The Outnet is the perfect frock to hold onto for warmer weather.  If you’d like a coral frock for less, this Tahari boatneck is a good choice.  Plus-size?  Try this Adrianna Papell dress.

I added a tan satchel (also comes in a great snakeskin material, gray and black).  Need something under-$100?  This Olivia & Joy satchel is a great choice.  The nude-colored pumps are perfect for spring/summer.  If you prefer a round-toe, try these surprisingly comfortable $60 Gianni Bini pumps.

To bring together the silver hardware on the jacket with the gold hardware on the bag, I chose a mixed-metal earring.  It’s good to have a few two-tone baubles in your arsenal so you can match different metals.  I also like this Robert Lee Morris bangle set and this Ralph Lauren stud earring.

For the hair, I would wear it up in a soft updo like this knotted updo.  I would also choose a coral-pink gloss for my lips and a heavy coat of mascara on the eyes.

I love the idea of a pretty spring dress with an edgier jacket! This would be perfect for spring in DC. Also love the sunglasses!

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
