Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell Solitair Suede Pumps ($145)

From Left, Necklace: Enamel Fringe Collar ($31) Rings: Dean Davidson Plaza Ring ($190) and Bauhaus Knuckle Ring ($125) Bag: Vince Camuto Jace Satchel ($278) Coat: Malene Birger Fiurica Coat ($775) Sweater: Equipment Sloane Satchel ($270) Skirt: Missoni Blend Skirt ($371)

From Right, Earrings: Edelman Small Stud Earring ($25) Necklace: Rebel Pendant ($79) Bag: Bleecker Crossbody ($398) Dress: Chinti & Parker Jersey Dress ($102)

For the Office. I am still loving flounce skirts as an alternative to the classic pencil.  They’re a bit more fun, and useful for evening and daytime events.  If you’re looking for a printed one for less, Banana Republic has a black and white chain print skirt.  If basic black is your poison, this Ann Taylor skirt is a good choice.

Plus-size?  Try this Land’s End skirt with a rear flounce.  Petite?  This Anthropologie skirt is cute.

I paired the skirt with a simple white sweater and a statement necklace.  Need a cheaper sweater?  Try this Lord & Taylor cashmere sweater for less than $50.  I love the modern look of the necklace.  It fits close to the collar to complement the neckline.

Blush and black is one of my favorite combinations.  This coat is a bit out of my price range, so I think this Topshop skirted coat is a better choice.  I also love this Helene Berman coat that’s a grey and blush melange for under-$125.  Want something brighter?  J.Crew’s final sale still has a few sizes left in their bright coral coat.

The rest of the accessories include a simple satchel and some interesting rings.  I chose a black ring to pair with the necklace, and this cool Elizabeth & James knuckle ring.  You can find a similar black ring for less from K. Amato.

For the hair, I’m all about a soft updo, maybe a loose French twist.  For the makeup, I would choose a rose blush and a muted mauve lipstick.  I like the $8 Ulta lipstick in smoky quartz.

For Casual Days. When you’re a fashion blogger, you must have self-control or else you’ll buy every pretty thing you see.  But this dress…this dress fell into the “must buy” category that hits a sweet spot where affordability and style converge.  Navy and black stripes with long sleeves?  Yes, please.  The dress also comes in midnight blue and mushroom stripes.

Want something similar in plus-size? Have a look at this Torrid Raglan dress.  Petite?  This Ann Taylor dress is a close, but not perfect, match.

For the accessories, I chose a black stud earring with a gold setting.  I like the peaked edges for a little something extra.  The pendant is from Stella & Dot and it’s one of my favorite necklaces.  If you’d like a similar look for less, try this $13 Panache Pendulum Necklace.

How great is this Coach bag?  I love the mix of snakeskin and black trim.  So chic.  For a similar look, try this black and white Aldo satchel or this snakeskin and black Olivia Joy satchel.

For the hair, I would wear it down.  For the makeup, I would paint the nails black (I like the light shimmer in Jin Soon Obsidian) and I wouldn’t scrimp on the eyeliner.

The Range: Grey Jeans for Fall

Sometimes you have to see a piece of clothing in the wild to truly appreciate it, seeing it in the store just isn’t enough. Grey jeans, for example. On a shelf, not for me. At brunch, on a woman who looked relaxed and chic? Now, I need them.

2013 Outfit Restyle: Bring the Tweed

The theme of 2013 was more is more. Wearing a bracelet? Wear five. Add a belt. Add a necklace, maybe two . . . make it three. So when I look at outfits from a decade ago, my first instinct is always: do less.
