Steve Madden Paigge Leopard Flats ($99)

During the cold weather months, my casual outfits entail either knee-high boots or leopard flats.  I purchased these Sigerson Morrison flats last year and I love them, but I thought these Madden shoes were a unique alternative to the basic ballet flat.

If you want a basic pointed-toe flat to wear with pants, this BP Moveover flat is the best thing you’ll find under-$100.  Prefer round toe?  Zara has a leopard-print ballerina flat that is surprisingly well-made for $29.  Looking for a loafer style?  These Vince Camuto Edmonton slips have a rich color to them.

Lastly, if you’d like to find a leopard shoe that is exceptionally unique, these Chico’s flats have a leopard print made from silver and grey sequins.  However, if you just want a bit of gleam, the gold toe-cap on these Michael Kors flats is also a good way to add something extra to your animal print shoes.

If you haven’t tried leopard yet, I encourage you to do so.  I never thought I would embrace the leopard trend when my Mother jumped on the bandwagon a few years ago, but I am an unabashed fan.  When worn as an accent, a little leopard really lifts neutral pieces and provides a bold contrast to color.

How do you manage ballet flats in cold weather? The tops of my feet get chilly but I can’t bring myself to wear socks (shudder) or pantyhose with flats….that’s a major faux-pas, right?

I don’t think nude hose would be the worst thing. It’s def. the best choice of some not great options. I don’t really get cold because I’m from MT, or I just power through til I get to my destination. I’m sure it doesn’t surprise you that I’d rather be cold for a minute than ruin the look I was going for.

With the right outfit, ballet flats can work with tights.

I was going to say that the bottoms of my feet get really cold in flats. Especially this week when the sidewalks have been very cold and wet. I don’t mind the cold but I do mind having feet that are completely numb by the time I get to work!

Belle, I love leopard on others but was hesitant to wear it myself – esp. because it can have warm color combinations and I gravitate to lots of gray and blues (which I know could work, but in the morning, I never choose it…) Anyway, I have instead a gray-ish snakeskin flat that serves the same role in my wardrobe, but fits better with my favorite colors!

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
