Blazer with Tuxedo Collar ($119)

A tuxedo blazer is a classic piece.  You can wear it as an alternative to your suit blazer with separates, or you can wear it over evening attire.  This blazer from Zara mixes in just enough satin accents to keep the tuxedo feel without being overpowering.

Zara also sells a tuxedo-style blazer with leather accents.  Should you want something with a full satin lapel, I found this French Connection jacket for the same price (also comes in navy and teal).  Want something under-$50?  JC Penney has this Worthington tuxedo jacket.

If you aren’t looking for a wardrobe staple, a tuxedo jacket can be a chic accent piece.  I am partial to white jackets with black lapels like this ah-may-zing Walter Baker number.  I also like this jacquard jacket from WHBM, and this velvet jacket from Ann Taylor.  And if you want a bit of sparkle with your attire, this white Helene Berman jacket has a silver sequin on the lapel and this Calvin Klein blazer is covered in black sequin.

Plus-size: There were precious few options, but I found this white blazer from Wal-Mart.  If you know of one at another retailer, please share in the comments.  Petite:  The velvet Ann Taylor comes in your size, as does this fitted WHBM jacket.

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]

The Find: My Best Workout Shorts

For eight years, I have worn the same workout shorts. Every year, an influencer tries to sell me new shorts. I order them. I try them on. They pale in comparison to the shorts I already own. I return them.
