10th Commandment: September 20th

Sep 20, 2013

Blanket cardigans seem to be everywhere this season.  Cozy and warm, they would be a great option for airplane travel, lounging around the house or even the office.  Wait, the office?

If you find a blanket or open cardigan that hits at the hip, grab a wide belt like this black belt from Calvin Klein and cinch it closed for shape.  Wear this look with full-length trousers or pencil skirts.  It’s a casual blazer alternative that packs a lot of warmth and style.

This is a first! I’m not sure I would ever see this in the office at Albany.

    • Belle says:

For a couple of season in 09-10, I wore a heavy grey drape cardigan with a wide leather belt to the Capitol. I paired it with a pencil skirt and a v-neck blouse in grey print. The cinched belt made it look like a peplum. It was one of my favorite outfits, so you might be surprised.

Belle – Thank you. The place I work gets so cold! Even in early fall. I already have taken to heart your advice about the heating pad on the chair. I think with slacks the middle option with a belt would work very nicely.

Cardigans are the best. But I’m having a hard time picturing the blanket-cardigan-plus-belt look. Do you have a pinterest shot or two you can link to?

The Find: A Versatile Sweater Jacket

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
