I had a request for floral dresses from a Twitter follower, so here they are.

Giambattista Valli Floral Dress ($3,380)

(The chiffon is hand-spun by elves out of an angel’s hair and the dyes are made from the blood of virgins.  It’s beautiful, really beautiful, but my first car didn’t cost that much.)

Ted Baker London Floral Dress ($176)

I also like this navy and white floral from Kate Spade, but it didn’t have the color combo that I was looking for.

JNY Burst Floral Dress ($83)

If bright florals aren’t your thing, I also like this understated black and white dress from Piperlime.

The Jones of New York dress also comes in plus sizes, and I love the fun floral print on this casual slub jersey dress.  The Jones of New York dress also comes in petites, and check out this floral dress with a more muted color palette in a similar cut.

I would appreciate seeing more dresses and skirts with hems a bit closer to mid knee. The Ted Baker dress is not work appropriate in my opinion, even in a fairly relaxed office, as is mine. While I am older than the target audience for the blog, I do like to dress well for work so your blog is very helpful even to me-one of the few that has some relationship to real life-which I can say of only 2 other fashion blogs. The rest are a joke for the most part, unless you want to style what you wear on the weekend. However, as a senior professional woman, in my opinion, quite a few of the items you show are a bit too short. I understand it is tough to tell how tall the model is and what the dress might really look like on. And nobody wants to look frumpy. That said, I interviewed someone for a position on my team last week, who in all regards presented really well except for an overly short suit skirt. It was cute but distracting and inappropriate. Several others wore chinos and other oddments to job interviews. This general ignorance of appropriate dress is amazing to me.

    • Belle says:

These dresses aren’t meant to be worn to work. These are party dresses.

    • Becca says:

Maharani, I don’t know how tall the model pictured is, but the length of the dress is 36.5″ and on me (I’m 5’4″) it would fall just above my knees. Which I think would be a very appropriate length for work, however, I do understand that it would be too short on someone taller. But even given the longer length, I still consider this a party dress.

Belle, do you think this dress would be good for a day after the wedding brunch? I am going to one of those in a couple weeks and I’m totally unsure of the dress code for such an event. I would love to get this dress for it.

  2. Becky says:

That Ted Paker dress is lovely. Also, thank you for linking to petite options! My fellow shorties and I appreciate it.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
