Mango Cotton Embroidered Dress ($60)

Last summer, I did a stupid thing.  I cleaned out my summer dresses and sold most of my casual dresses.  Now, I’m scrounging for clothes to wear on the weekends.  Brilliant, Belle, bloody brilliant.  So I need to buy some new casual dresses, and I think I’m going to start with this Spanish-inspired, embroidered dress.

Mango has a lot of cute dresses this season.  This printed shirt dress is easy and fun.  This chiffon dress is covered in bright, colorful patterns.  And this simple white dress would look great with a flat sandal, a simple tote and some sunglasses.

If it’s stripes you’re after (and let’s face it, stripes are a summer staple), Anthropologie has the best choices.  I love this dress with thin stripes on the bodice and thicker ones on the bottom.  This orange dress has a fun shape and curve-accentuating lines.  And this full-skirted basic frock is great for daytime or dinner; add a cardigan and wear it to work.

I’m also in the market for a simple t-shirt dress.  It’s a great choice for quick errands or for use as a cover up at the pool.  This Banana Republic one is nice.  I also like this v-neck dress from Gap.  But you can’t go wrong with a dress from Splendid.

As for dresses that I’m buying for sure, this botanic print dress from Loft.  But the first thing I’m going to do is chuck that belt and replace it with this one.

I did that too! The first good beach weekend in MA rolled around and I realized that there was no “box of summer clothes” stowed away in the back of my closet anymore. Thank goodness for TX Maxx or my wallet would be hurting right now.

Where/how did you sell your clothes last year?

I’ve heard of an organization where you can send them clothes and they give you an offer to buy them. If they don’t want to buy them, for whatever reason, then they’ll donate the clothes to charity or just send them back to you. The only problem is I can’t remember the name of this company. Anyone have any clue what I’m talking about? Thanks!!

Eeee! That dress is so cute! I love white and the embroidery gives it an awesome pop. Great pick!

I have bought three dresses from Mango recently, and I love all of them. Mango is my new go-to for dresses, since most give great definition around the waist so are very flattering. This was my most recent:

I am very long wasted and over 35, with a womanly figure, although I am a size 2. It is hard to find dresses that fit. I don’t like the shapeless styles that are popular now days. Many of them look like pillow cases with sleeves. Also they are so short. My legs are nice enough, but at my age, I don’t need to worry about showing my goodies if I am going up a set of stairs. You have any ideas? Thanks
