Pelle Moda Brice Striped Cap-Toe Flat ($73)
We talk a lot about basics on this blog, but what about fun and whimsy and personality? The way I see it, it’s my job to help women learn the basics so they can add other, more fun pieces to the mix. And one of the easiest places to have a little more fun is with footwear.
Jaclyn Day and I are equally smitten with these striped flats with a red patent toe-cap. They’re great for weekends wearing jeans or a breezy white dress.
Like flats? How about a studded loafer? Or a bright coral flat ballet slipper? I also like these laser-cut flats in ashy-pink, these grey ankle-strap flats with peach accents are lovely and I love the Middle Eastern look of these graphic-printed flats.
Prefer shoes with height? I love the tonal accents on these grey suede pumps. This Ivanka Trump pump takes the basic “nude” pump and kicks it up a notch with great styling and accents. And I love the mix of textures on these shoes, they’re perfect for summer weddings or cocktail parties.
But if you want a wide selection of unique, cool shoes at fiscally feasible prices, you want Zara. I find the best shoes there. Nearly every pair I own that people comment on are from Zara. They’re online shoe shop is my little secret…well, not anymore.
I wore these crazy, printed, studded wedges on my birthday, and I love them. They’re really a departure for me, and that’s what I like most about them.

Hi Belle (and everyone out there!)
Awesome selection! I’ve always loved the Zara shoes you point out, but I was wondering if you could answer a quick question for me – any idea why they don’t carry a size 7? This has always been a mystery to me and I finally emailed them and simply got the response “we do not carry this size at this time.” Just thought I would ask! HAPPY THURSDAY.

Totally agreed on Zara! I recently discovered their online shoe shop and was amazed. I don’t generally get into pretty much anything else they sell, but their shoes are super cute and reasonably priced (mostly).

I’d be curious if anyone has any hidden resources (beyond the usual zappos recs) for fun/cute shoes in sizes 11 or 12. I love these flats, but my feet are too big 🙁

JCrew has some fun shoes in 11 and 12. They’re unfortunately not cheap, but well-made and the frequent sales on JCrew’s website bring them down a bit in price.

I’m not normally a shoe girl — I grab a pair of ballet flats a season and call it good — but I am legit obsessed with d’orsay flats. Saw them on a random photo on a blog a month or two ago and could NOT stop thinking about them (but didn’t have any idea how to search for them… “pointy toe flats no sides” = nothing on Zappos!) Love these. So fun!
