I’m still searching for a new wallet.  Why are wallets, that live most of their lives outside of public view, one of the hardest items to find?

I’ve had the same basic black Coach wallet for over 5 years. It holds everything I need and still looks practically new.

Belle, I ordered a Clarisonic Aria from the SkinStore after seeing your glowing reviews time and time again. It’s arriving today and I couldn’t be more excited!

  3. Maggie says:

I have a kate spade neda zip-around wallet and it’s still looking perfect after almost three years! It was one of my first “grown-up-lady” purchases when I started my first job, and it was 100% worth the $$.

  4. Lauren says:

I have that Kate Spade one, and I would not buy it again. It looks great when there is nothing in it, but just putting my credit cards in it made it bulky. And the pockets for cash a just a smidge too small to get bills in and out of easily.

Plus it’s not really holding up to daily use. I bought it back in the fall, and I’m already looking for its replacement. The only thing I like about it is being able to flip it open and show my ID easily – a feature that is getting harder to find.

  5. Amy says:

I’ve learned the hard (and expensive) way with both Coach and Kate Spade that light colored wallets are not good long term investments. The colors are fun, but for some reason they get trashed in my purse.

  6. Anna says:

I’ve become a loyal purchaser of Mandarina Duck brand wallets – it’s an Italian brand, but they ship to the US (pretty quickly / inexpensively). I’ve bought from the Hera collection, and when stuff is on sale, it quite reasonable, especially when considering the quality!

(I also have a laptop shoulder bag from Work and have used it faithfully for 3 years now. It has the normal pockets and padded straps, but the best feature is that it has a little built-in raincoat for commuting!)

  7. Ann says:

I love my Lodis clutch style wallets with the metal frames that snap closed. The one I have is patent leather and a bright blue.

  8. Sarah says:

Hobo. I love my Hobo wallet…everything about it. And it is actually looking BETTER as it ages (as quality leather should), even with daily use. Not one place is torn, not one little seam is out of place. I’ve had it since December 2006.

I used to love Hobo, until my cc company told me the magnet can demagnetize credit and Metro cards. Explained why I needed a new debit card every 3 months.

I’ve had a Kate Spade leather wallet for 2 years and it looks like new still, regardless of how it gets tossed around inside my purse. It’s a light teal/mint color that everyone always compliments. I wipe it off with a damp washcloth whenever I notice a bit of dirt but nothing has ever stained it. However, I don’t see any on the Kate Spade website right now that look even remotely similar to the one I have. If you look on Ebay it’s similar to the Remy Wellesly style.

  10. Donniell says:

I’ve had that exact Kate Spade wallet for just over a year now and I absolutely love it. I give it a wipe-down about once a month just to keep the shine & the interior white and it’s held up perfectly. I would disagree with the poster above who indicated it gets bulky with credit cards, I think it retains its slim shape very well, though I do agree it could be just a smidge longer to put bills in flat rather than folding as I do. I love being able to snap it open & closed quickly for ID check. It was my first moving-to-the-city purchase, I’ve used it daily for over a year and still love it.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
