Apr 18, 2013

twoways1Dress: Striped Cotton Dress ($59 + 20% off)

From Left, Bag: ASOS Top Handle ($34) Earrings: Neon Bling Studs ($28) Ring: Gorjana Raleigh Wrap ($45) Belt: ASOS Skinny Belt ($7) Shoes: Miri Heels ($198) Blazer: Joie Mehira Blazer ($248)

From Right, Earrings: Laurel Hoop Earrings ($58) Sunglasses: RayBan Cat Eye Glasses ($144) Bracelet: Interlocking Bangle ($40) Bag: VC Drawstring Bag ($178) Belt: Dagmar Belt ($99) Shoes: DvF Daphne Flats ($195)

For the Office.  This look was inspired by current-favorite cocktail dress from Nordstrom.  The colored belt keeps the outfit from being a bit too black and white.

I think a white blazer is a must for summer.  I’m in the market to replace mine.  This Joie is nice, but in my dreams, I can afford this SmytheBanana also makes a nice white blazer, and in the under-$100 range, there’s always Express.  Petites can fins nice options from Michael Kors, and plus-sized ladies should look at Jones of NY.

I chose mint earrings and a simple ring because that is a LOT of pattern happening with the stripe and I didn’t want to overwhelm.  But you could go a bit bigger on the ring, if you wanted, or wear a few on multiple fingers.  This honeycombed ring and this dome ring are both lovely.

These Miri pumps from J.CREW are comfortable if you wear a foot bed insole.  But if you need something cheaper, try these Nine West pumps.

For the hair, dealer’s choice.  It would look lovely down, or up in a low bun or teased pony.  For the makeup, I think you need a bit of color to balance the stark white and black.  I’d try a red lip or raspberry lip, if you’re not feeling bold, and a pop of pink blush.

For the Weekend.  If a spontaneous even pops up on a weekend, I usually wear a simple dress and flat sandals.  I can jazz it up with accessories, or keep it cool for day with a simple belt and a fun bag.  And sunglasses, never forget the sunglasses.

I chose a cognac belt because I LOVE mixing cognac and black.  Need a cheaper belt?  Try this $24 one.

I opted for these really cool DvF sandals, but they’re a bit pricey.  In the under-$75 range, I like these metal-accented sandals, these buckle sandals and these fun, bow sandals.

I chose a bright blue bag in a fun shape, but if you want cool-looking bag in the same color without the string, look at this Topshop one.  I also chose some easy gold hoops and a bangle with a unique shape.

For the hair, I would wear it down and wavy.  For the makeup, I would break out some bronzer and a highlighter.  I’d also wear a pink gloss.

Saw a similar dress last night at Macy’s. Surprisingly, it was made by INC. I’m going to look for a solid navy version of this. Stripes aren’t my thing.

Just bought a striped sleeveless dress from Banana Republic’s Mad Men collection. Super excited to see its equivalent styled here!
