No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Cotton ($110)

Last week, I posted that I purchased this skirt for spring and a reader asked me how I planned to style it, so I figured why not show you?

If you’re down for cobalt but need a cheaper price, this J.CREW Factory skirt in a similar color (and a bunch of pretty hues) is $50 and this Charlotte Russe skirt is $15 (though it may require a slip).  And if you’re plus size, this cobalt skirt is $79.

Looking for another color?  How about emerald green, orange or pink

I've heard that the No. 2 skirt in cotton tends to wrinkle. Do you find that to be the case, or does it not bother you much?

  2. Karen says:

Just a heads up – I bought the JCrew factory version of this skirt in two colors last Spring and I was very disappointed in the quality. It becomes a wrinkled mess after you sit down for the first time and looks even worse by the end of the day.

  3. ADL says:

As others have said, not a fan of the cotton no 2 pencil skirts – they wrinkle like crazy and don't want to say crisp (both regular J Crew and Factory). I'm a HUGE fan of the wool no 2 pencil skirt though, as it is gorgeous and stays wrinkle free!

  4. LS says:

Totally agree! I have a hot pink cotton no. 2 and the wrinkles are comical. I might have to splurge for the wool version this year.

  5. S says:

Another thing to note about the Factory version – you will need a slip if you wear it with tights. I made that mistake once and will never forget that horribly awkward day of my skirt riding up constantly.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
