Dress: Mango Pleated Dress ($79)

Earrings: Hammered Drop Earrings ($40) Ring: Oscar de la Renta Faceted Ring ($98) Tights: Hue Fine Fishnets ($13) Shoes: Nine West Blonsky Pump ($85) Blazer: Helene Berman Tweed Jacket ($165) Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAB ($495)

Bracelets: Kate Spade Bangle ($48) and Pim + Larkin Green Bangle ($15) Belt: Annarita Belt ($63) Bag: Post Street Nadine Bag ($458) Sweater: J.CREW Jackie Cardigan ($65) Shoes: Nine West Caress Pump ($79)

Now.  This dress could be worn with any number of sweaters, cardigans and jackets, so why not finish out the season with the color of last winter, burgundy?  Here, I mixed this collarless tweed jacket with the basic dress for a bit of oomph and color.  Prefer another shade of tweed? This pale grey one with zipper detail is cool.  This green and grey melange is nice, but available in limited sizes.  And this hot pink would be good for spring.

Plus size? How about this black and grey with metallic thread or this melange of grey and Earth tones?

The shoes for this look could go two ways: nude micro-fishnets with grey t-straps or sheer nylons/bare legs with black pumps (great, basic, $99).  I chose the t-straps and fishnets for a vintage throwback, but if that’s too much for you, choose the other.  Why no tights?  Because when I thought about black tights next to a grey skirt that light, it just didn’t work for me.

As for the other accessories, I added the black satchel to pull in the colors in the tweed, and the burgundy stone ring for the same reason.  Also, I found on Amazon, that you can buy a Rebecca Minkoff MAB for $259, about half of retail.  What are you waiting for?  Buy it!

Looking for a cheaper satchel?  Try this bag from BCBG or this one with metal accents.

For the hair, I would wear it down or half up/half down.  I’d wear a hint of burgundy color on the lips and charcoal shadow.

Later.  What color says bright sunshine and warm temperatures like bright yellow? This cardigan from J.CREW is picture perfect, but if you need something easier on the wallet, try this LOFT cardigan for $40 or this Forever 21 number for $18.  And if you need a plus size, try this v-neck cardigan.

You could wear grey pumps with this, but it is so difficult to find a good pair in a versatile color.  Some are too light, some are too dark, others have too much blue in the color to be of any use.  For the warm weather months, I’d recommend just wearing a pair of nude-to-you pumps.  This medium brown shade is about right for me, but the shoe offers lighter shades and women with darker skin should consider a chocolate brown pump.

The jewelry is fairly straight forward.  I like the way bright green mixes with yellow and yellow gold, thus the bangles.  The belt should be worn around the top of the “skirt,” under the cardigan.  If you want to belt over the cardigan, try a skinnier belt worn at the natural waist.

The bag is pretty spectacular, a feminine top-handled tote.  Want something similar for less?  This Alloy tote has some small studs.  This one from Mellow World is larger with a pleated buckle detail.  And this one from Ivanka Trump is my favorite with a cool shape and modern texture.

For the hair, I would wear it up in a chic low updo like this one from The Small Things Blog that I pinned earlier.  And for the makeup, a bit of rosy blush and some black eyeliner with a hint of lipgloss should be enough.

What makes the MAB so awesome? I'm tempted.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
