The Victoria’s Secret yoga pants in the middle are my favorite. They come in a dozen colors, are really comfortable and wear well. And at two for $55, if you wear yoga pants often, they’re a good buy. I also like their daily leggings.
Plus size? Forever 21 and Old Navy makes decent-quality, inexpensive yoga pants.

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
I just got some of these for Christmas from my mother-in-law. Glad to see they're Belle-approved!
Have you tried Lulu Lemon yoga pants? Would like your opinon/thoughts on that brand, please.
My favorite yoga pants are from aerie, especially since AE/aerie seem to always have some sort of discount going on.
Old Navy yoga pants are amazing for the price. So are GAP, which are moisture wicking, especially since the outlet is having a sale right now.
If you are looking for plain lounging yoga pants (for not working out), Target sells a nice pair that have lasted me a long while.
Yoga pants, yoga pants, yoga pants. Bleh! I mean, they are FINE for those of you who happen to be genetically blessed &/or more devout fitness buffs than I….but what about those of us burdened with the dreaded pear shape..or even worse (like my sorry self) the violin shape? Yoga pants are NOT our friend.
To meet two of my New Years Aspirations, I've begun working out at my corporate gym (saving money & increasing fitness). For those of us whose physiques are not yet Yoga Pant worthy…what do we wear until then???? Especially in the uber-dicey world of gym meets professional colleagues. Help!
Julie, I've heard other people claim that yoga pants are not flattering, and I honestly don't understand why. Can you enlighten me? I feel like they like good on me (granted, I actually do yoga and other exercise in them so they ought to look good, but even on heavier women you could do much worse). They have a universally flattering cut, and smooth out bumps and bulges if you have them. On a petite person like me they're a hell of a lot more flattering than most other pants.
Julie: I have a pear shape. I think a foldover band helps balance that out for me. And part of it is about heavy weight vs. thin. A flimsy fabric that hugs you a bit too tightly can be a problem.
But if you're concerned about how you look in them, I'm not entirely sure what else to recommend except maybe workout shorts that pull away from the body and hang a bit longer.
Tricia – I purchased my first pair of lulu lemon pants three years ago and have never regretted it. They are definitely an investment, but are the best yoga-type pant that I've ever worn. They offer a number of styles/lengths, the seaming is made to flatter a woman's shape, and the material is thick enough to make you feel comfortable. I have two pairs and love both! I have a number of female friends who love their lulu's as well.
I agree with Belle; it's all in the weight of the fabric. Thin fabric is going to show all the lumps and bumps, but something thick and opaque is going to smooth everything out. I actually think they're more flattering than shorts, because in shorts you see all the jiggle when you're bouncing around, as opposed to having it all covered up in the pants. It's also important to avoid fabric with a sheen to it since that'll bring attention to larger areas. Lululemon pants are expensive but they are super flattering, almost like workout spanx. I also recommend longer tops – not necessarily baggy, but something that covers about half your butt. I think that creates the most flattering proportions by cutting across and therefore de-emphasizing the hips.
