One. Tights are a great stocking stuffer.  Women can always use more tights, so they’re a useful gift.  You can pick them up at stores like Nordstrom Rack for a song.  If you want to splurge, buy her a pair of Commando tights. They don’t dig or bind, but if she walks a lot, I recommend the control top because they stay up better.

Two. Small charm necklaces are a holiday gift that can be tailored to suit any taste.  I like the pretty wishbone above, but Dogeared makes dozens of styles including this delicate feather, this four-leaf clover and this dove.

Three. A few years ago, I stopped giving bottles of champagne as gifts and started giving splits, smaller bottles that hold just over two glasses worth of bubbly.  Full bottles sit in the fridge or on a wine rack unconsumed for far too long, because most people (myself not included) think champagne is for special occasions and if they’re not going to drink it all in one night, don’t want it to go flat.  A split, or set of splits, eliminates the possibility of leftover champagne and can be consumed in celebration of any occasion.

Four. Jo Malone candles are really popular because the scents are fantastic and the candles themselves are pretty. But even the “travel size” candle costs $35, so they’re not cheap.  Nest candles also come in several lovely scents (the grapefruit is my favorite) and look pretty, but only cost $14.  

Five. How adorable is this little scallop ring?  It would make a great stocking stuffer for your Mom, your sister or your friend.  If your recipient loves rings, Kate Spade also makes this charming bow ring, an enamel version of the scallop ring and this large stone ring with a cool faceted purple rock.

Six. Most big city apartments don’t get dark enough for you to get a restful sleep.  I recently started wearing a silk sleep mask to bed, and while it is a bit of an adjustment, I do fall asleep faster and sleep better while wearing one.  I purchased this one with the optional cool pack for when my eyes are a bit puffy.  

Seven. Pale pink polishes are always a safe bet, and no one sells more pretty pinks than Essie.  Above is Mademoiselle, but I also like Adore-a-Ball, Love and Pop Art Pink.  And if you’re recipient owns all the pale pinks she’ll ever need, I recommend Sure Shot, a vibrant fuschia, or the six-piece winter cube full of gorgeous shades from vibrant rubies to pale purples.

Eight. Little notebooks and journals make a sweet holiday present, and they come in such charming forms.  This pink and gold journal is rather spectacular.  I also like this one with birds on the cover, this one with a fun geometric print or this one with an eyelet lace detail. Or if your recipient is a purist, you can always go with a basic, but chic, Moleskine.

Nine. The earrings above  are a fun and festive choice.  I like that they look like sparkly snowflakes.  I also found these charming crystal ones from Marc Jacobs and these cool ones with beaded colorblocking.  

Ten. If your recipient has a signature scent, try to find it in a solid or roller form.  This way they can keep one in their purse for touchups, or take it on the plane with them when they travel without TSA getting their knickers in a twist.  If you can’t find a travel-size option, try this refillable atomizer. That way they can fill it with the scent of their choice.

Eleven. Rosebud salve is a beauty editor favorite. It heals dry lips, gives just a hint of color and smells fantastic.  However, if you don’t like to put your finger in your lip balm, they also sell it in a tube.

Twelve. I love these flavored marshmallows from Williams-Sonoma.  The peppermint taste divine on hot chocolate,the gingerbread are wonderful melted on top of a piece of pumpkin pie (place on pie, heat under broiler), and the vanilla are great for making S’mores.  Speaking of S’Mores, you can also buy a gourmet kit for $20 that would make a great gift for almost anyone.  Or you can go a little crazy and buy your chocolate and marshmallow-loving friend this Dylan’s Candy Bar dipping station.
