Two Ways: Fur Infinity Scarf

Nov 27, 2012

Scarf: Juicy Couture Fur Scarf ($88)

From Left, Earrings: Akoya Pearl Studs ($75) Bag: Brahmin Annabelle Bag ($355) Tights: Nude Fishnet Tights ($14) Pumps: Via Spiga Metallic Pump ($92) Coat: Double Cloth Funnel Coat ($350) Sweater: Merino Wool Sweater ($70) Skirt: Double Serge Pencil Skirt ($80)

From Right, Sunglasses: Ray-Ban Aviators ($145) Earrings: Tom Binns Bolt Hoops ($88) Bag: Fossil Crossbody Bag ($158) Boots: Loeffler Randall Matilde Boot ($695) Coat: Drape Collar Jacket ($45) Sweater: Otte Ellen Sweater ($330) Jeans: Paige Skyline Jeans ($189)

For the Office.  I love winter white.  It’s so crisp and clean and bright.  And the idea of the perfect ivory crewneck with a fur scarf is simple but feels completely luxurious.

Here, I paired the ivory sweater with an ivory scarf, all J.CREW.  If the idea of all white sets your teeth on edge, camel or chocolate or black would also work.  If you’d like a chunkier sweater, this cable knit from Dorothy Perkins is lovely and under-$50. I also like this sleek cowl neck sweater.

If you’re wearing a skirt, and you don’t want to wear tights, you have three choices: bare legs, nylons or nude fishnets.  I like very small weave fishnets.  The Hues are perfect, but I’ve heard the Berkshire ones wear better.   If those aren’t for you, try sheer nylons.  Not flesh-colored Hooters nightmare hose, but ultra-sheer nylons like these from Donna Karan.  If you need cheaper ones, the Hanes version is almost as good.

To complete the outfit, I added a bronze/dark brown shoe and pearl earrings.  The red bag gives contrast to the otherwise monochromatic color palette.  If you’d like a red satchel under-$100, try this bag from 6pm.com.  And, last but not least, I added a chic camel coat.  Like camel?  Need to pay less for it?  This funnel neck coat from Overstock is $90, and this Aqua coat is just over $100.

For the hair, I would wear it up in a twisted bun.  For the makeup, I would choose a sheer red lip, a pop of pink blush and black eyeliner.

For the Weekend.  I’m a simple girl, I like neutral colors.  So my first instinct was to choose a chunky cable turtleneck in ivory (under-$30) or a charcoal grey sweater.  But why not add a little color with a burst of burgundy?

I chose the Otte sweater, because I’ve really fallen in love with the store’s approach to curating their merchandise.  If you’re looking for a sweater in a deep wine color, I love this sweater from All Saints at less-than half the price and this Topshop version is under-$100.

I loved the mix of the fur scarf with the burgundy sweater and olive jacket.  I’m not sure I trust the brand SheInside (too many horror stories), but Nordstrom has a similar anorak in dark fern.  But since it is soon-to-be winter, an olive coat might be more appropriate.

This tulip-shaped coat is under-$100, and this belted Sam Edelman coat is gorgeous at $220.

I love the Paige Skyline jeans.  They are my jean of the moment.  To finish the look, I chose aviators, of course, and bolt-shaped hoop earrings.  I also added a dark brown, vintage-looking crossbody bag.  And the boots are just to die for, but if you need something less expensive, I like these Boutique 9 Zanny boots as well.

For the hair, I’m all about a bouncy wrapped ponytail with the hair wrapped around to conceal the elastic.  For the makeup, I like a nude lip, with a rose cheeks and a dark brown liner and taupe shadow.

Belle, I have been debating this one in front of my closet for the past few morning. I have the j crew natural/white cotton pencil skirt. Can white cotton work in winter?

  2. Cara says:

I bought the jacket in the “For the Weekend” option from SheInside and HATED IT. I was so disappointed. I would definitely advise readers not to purchase.

  3. Allison says:

Belle, what's your advice on coat hem lengths when wearing skirts and dresses? I know my mother would say your coat should match the length of your skirt, but most of my coats hit just below the hip.

That first outfit is soooo amazing! Both retro and modern at the same time.

Hi Belle – I loved this scarf but was having a hard time pulling the trigger. Just found it on Juicy's site for more than half off – $38.51 – and wanted to share the deal 🙂
