Polyvore Set Here.

Now that we’re headed into November, it’s probably time for a preemptive post about holiday attire.  Here are two outfits for those of you who plan on making the rounds on the social circuit.

For a Holiday Dinner.  This outfit combines the flirty, pretty t-shirt with a tuxedo blazer and a pair of skinny trousers.  When paired with the right accessories, this classic combination has a chic metropolitan flair.

This tuxedo blazer has long clean lines with the perfect satin lapel.  I just adore the cut of the jacket, especially in contrast to the oh-so-slim trouser.  If you’re trying to nab this look for less, Tahari has a lovely option for $139 and Lauren Conrad has a $49 version at Kohl’s.

I chose a slim ankle trouser from J.CREW.  I elected for black, but you could also wear a raspberry, burgundy, cobalt or off white pant if you prefer.  You could also liven things up with a sequin pant or a leather trouser.

I chose a simple strappy sandal for ease, but you could also do a dramatic platform heel.  But whichever style you choose, select something with a low vamp, a bit of foot helps balance the look of skinny trousers.

The rest of the accessories are a mix of teal and art deco.  You could go for a red clutch, but that seems like an obvious choice.  Teal or burgundy or cobalt would be better.  As for the jewelry, if you’re looking for a less expensive ring with a similar look, this Sabine ring has the same deco flare.

For the hair, I would wear it in a high, bouncy ponytail.  I might even grab some black ribbon and tie a bow in it, or just wrap it around the elastic.  For the makeup, I would choose a dramatic winged liner with silver shadow and grey accents.  And I would definitely paint my nails a deep purple like NARS Endless Night.

For a Holiday Cocktail Party.  Every year, I dust off my cocktail dresses for the holiday season.  I have one burgundy, one black and one charcoal with sequins.   They make the rounds, and then head back in the closet.  This year, I think it would be nice to do something a little different.

Here, I paired the t-shirt with a sequin maxi with bow detail at the waist and dramatic slit.  Looking for something similar? This sequin ruched maxi is $195 and this Calvin Klein option is $140.  With a plain skirt, I would tuck the shirt in and maybe, I’d add an inexpensive bow belt.

I kept the accessories simple with deco chandelier earrings and a grey leopard clutch.  I chose these peep toes, but if you wanted to take a risk and be really fashion-y, you could try a rocker-chic ankle boot

For the hair, I would put curl my hair into tight waves, mess it up with some texturizing spray, tease the crown and then pull it into a messy low bun.  For the makeup, I would do an Old Hollywood look with black kajal liner, a gold wash on the eye lids, full brows and a red lip

Sorry, but I just don't get the jewelry printed t-shirt. It reminds me of those tshirts with the tuxedo jacket printed on them although, this one isn't quite as tacky! I do love the “two-ways” feature and everything else in the post. Props for going outside the box, you made me think twice.

I have a question regarding sequins at the office/holiday party. I am not planning on taking the day off to get ready. So, I was wondering if on the day of the holiday party it would be appropriate to wear a sequinned dress to work with a blazer over it to temper it down a bit.The event is held at the W hotel and is usually a fancy and fashionable affair. I can always just bring the dress to work and slip into it at the end of the day but that would ruin the fun. We are required to wear “business” attire but executives wear khaki's or sometimes even jeans on Friday's. Also, let it be noted that I hopefully plan on no longer working here next year and my “bosses” are only a year or two older than me.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
