10th Commandment: September 25

Peter Pan Collar Tee (J.CREW, $75), also available in a sweater for $90.

The truth is, I go back and forth on Peter Pan collars.  I started off thinking that they’re a bit immature, but then I see a stylish outfit utilizing one, and I change my mind.  I’ll let you ladies decide whether this style is right for you.  Check back at 1:00PM for Two Ways to wear this style.

Looking to spend a little less on this trend?  I like this navy sheer top from Bluefly and this jeweled shell for less than-$25.  I also kind of like this dress with a cutout detail near the collar.

Belle, the link for the tee redirects to the J.Crew homepage and I cannot find it on their website for the life of me…

  2. Amy says:

Meagan – Per my cousin(works at JCrew), it's sold out. There are apparently 3-4 pieces from the new collection that she's been fielding a gazllion and one calls about, and this is one of them. I don't know if a restock is on the way or not.

  3. Mags says:

FYI I tried this on in the store and it is so, so, SO ITCHY. Seriously one of the most uncomfortable garments I have out on in awhile.

  4. Anonymous says:

I don't think Peter Pan collars are immature. Think Audrey Hepburn, for example. I'd have a difficult time making any case that her style was immature, quite to the contrary in my opinion. As with any fashion (trend or classic) it depends upon the article for wear and the person who wears it (I don't mean tall or short round or square) but a confident person has the ability to wear anything.

  5. anon says:

Careful with Peter Pan collars — if you have a round face or are a little jowly, then this style is going to accentuate your roundness. I have an oval face but fairly meek cheekbones, so on me these collars just make me look puffy.

The JCrew sweater version is on sale in stores for $49.99, plus an additional 25% off. Pentagon City had bunches last weekend. I was afraid it would look to girly, but it looked sophisticated in an Alexa Chung kind of way.

But beware, the sweater version is hella itchy.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

The Find: Shirts That Don’t Gape

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.
