Polyvore Set Here.

For a Weekend Dinner Date.  Without a doubt, these are casual boots.  So unless you work in a decidedly casual office, you probably shouldn’t wear them to work.  But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun wearing them on the weekends.

When I started on this outfit, I had a vision in my head of an ivory chiffon skirt with an ivory sweater and a taupe belt.  But sometimes the Interwebs just don’t deliver what I want.  So as a backup plan, I chose this vibrant printed skirt with a coordinating navy sweater and a chocolate brown belt.  If you like the printed, pleated skirt idea but don’t love the bright colors, I like this neutral-colored snakeskin skirt from Michael Kors ($90).

I adore this little pendant from Modcloth.  It looks like a Gorjana or Dogeared pendant, but at a significantly lower cost.

Also, this satchel is very similar to the Coach Legacy bags that I’ve been pushing on this blog like a drug dealer. If you are looking for a red handbag–very versatile–it also comes in a bold crimson, and for the truly brave, it comes in a black and leopard combo as well for $250.

For the hair, I would wear it down and wavy.  For the makeup, I would go with a palette of nudes and neutrals.  I like Laura Geller’s Carribean Kiss lipstick for a slightly pink natural color.

For Autumn Sightseeing. (Please ignore the typo in the Polyvore set. It’s 2:00AM, things happen.)  These layered fall looks are my favorite part of autumn.  I love a scarf, a sweater and a light jacket with boots.  I’m so excited the temperature is beginning to drop, though I’m not ready for it to drop too low.

I’m obsessed with the idea of a cable knit scarf or snood for fall.  However, paying $170 for a scarf is not an option, even if it is Fendi.  Asos has a great oversized one for $21, but if you want real wool for warmth, this cashmere blend scarf from Wyatt is $88.

And how great is this jacket?  I don’t know anything about the seller, but the cut and color are so fab, I might be willing to take a chance.  If you want a similar look in army green from a known seller, this Roxy jacket from Zappos is $90.

As for the accessories, I was looking for a casual tote, a slick pair of aviators, some simple earrings and a cool bracelet.  I decided on this leather bracelet from Marc Jacobs, which is a total Hermes knockoff, but just go with it.  Want something similar in a lower price point?  Try this cool leather cuff from Banana  or this one with awesome cutouts in a metallic plate.

The hair for this would either be braided or worn up in a casual updo.  And the makeup would be an application of tinted moisturizer, light concealer and some pink blush.  I might also paint my nails a dark color, maybe ButterLondon Gobsmacked, a cool charcoal grey.

This may seem like a silly question, but how exactly do you recommend wearing the skinny jeans with these boots? I bought a pair of Sam Edelman Louie boots last year, but I never could figure out what to do with the bottom of my jeans? To short roll, tuck in, wear at the ankle…? Thank you for your help! You are awesome!

  2. Amy says:

Another place to look for Army green/khaki jackets is an Army or Navy surplus store. You may have to dig to find smaller sizes, but the jackets tend to be inexpensive and durable.

  3. SC says:

I suspect we will see ankle booties paired with black shorts and black tights all. winter. long. Not like these exactly but a darker grey or black and a more relaxed leather or suede. Almost every single woman I saw as a tourist in Paris last winter was wearing this. Like, it was the Paris hipster uniform. It takes about a year for things to make it to DC so that's my prediction.

(And yes I know women have been wearing shorts w/ tights here for a few years but I've seen it here more with jean shorts and tights and not that often with the ankle boots.)

  4. MA says:

You definitely push bags like a drug dealer… and apparently you are mine. I picked up the Little Edie from J.Crew after seeing it here a million times and while I loved it, the clasp was defective and it had to be returned. Then, I purchased the Coach Legacy Penny in Cognac and I ADORE it. Typically hate coach (with the annoying little C's) but it is such a beautiful high quality leather bag. GREAT recommendation, Thanks

  5. Christie says:

Love that jacket and am on a mission to get a green field jacket for fall — let us know if you end up purchasing and how it works out. Couldn't quite tell about the website…

  6. Sofia says:

Read mix reviews on sheinside.com. I've been searching all over for that type of jacket without spending a fortune!

  7. Monica says:

Love the autumn set! Can't wait to wear all these cute layers, and to ditch this wretched heat.

  8. Rory says:

I'm loving that Zara bag. I just wish the handle was longer.
