For the Office. Even though all of the stores are stocking fall items, summer is still in full swing.  So the air conditioners in most offices are running full blast.  To stay warm but keep your attire seasonal, I paired this jacket with off-white trousers and an off-white blouse.  The lighter color palette certainly helps keep the outfit from being too Christmas in July.

If you’re going to wear pants, I recommend wearing a pointy-toe shoe.  It helps lengthen the leg and gives you the appearance of being taller.  These slingback flats are the perfect choice for a sophisticated shoe that isn’t a heel.

To keep up with the slightly rocker-vibe that the jacket has, I added a studded M.A.B bag.  My Rebecca Minkoff M.A.B is still my favorite bag.  If the price is out of your reach, look to pick one up on Gilt Groupe or Rue La La or during Minkoff’s seasonal sales.

Lastly, I added a pearl and enamel earring.  I think that it’s the perfect mix of sophisticated and modern style.  I also love the Dannijo ring with the Greek (?) figure carved into the resin.  One note about Dannijo; their pieces are handmade so they take forever to ship.  I ordered Miss M a bracelet from there for her birthday and it took six weeks.

For the hair, I would offset the modern look of the jacket with a decidedly feminine hairstyle like a wavy updo or a braid.  For the makeup, I’d keep it pretty simple with a bit of black eyeliner and a light berry wash on the lips.

For a Cocktail Date.  I wanted to create an outfit that was a less conservative than usual, so I mixed in the snug-fitting mini-skirt and the graphic tee.  I also chose a platform heel to amp up the sex appeal.  Initially, I saw this outfit as being perfect for a rock concert at a small venue, but let’s face it, who’s standing in those shoes for three hours?

This clutch has to be one of my favorite pieces that I’ve ever featured on the blog.  I love that it’s structured and sleek with an edgy attitude.  It would play very nicely with a floral chiffon dress or a flowy-cotton maxi dress.  Sometimes opposite do attract.

For the makeup, I would wear a LOT of black eyeliner with a grey smoky eye.  I’d also do a nude lip and black fingernails.  For the hair, I would wear it stick straight, either down or in a high ponytail.

  1. Both of those outfits rock. And with flat ankle boots, the right one is perfect for a concert. I concur on the clutch. Sigh. It's just that for some reason I can't bring myself to spend more than $ 100 on a clutch.

co-sign on both these outfits. Great job!

Belle, you are on fire! Love everything about this combo!

  4. Amanda says:

Yep, both of those outfits are awesome! I definitely have less of a feminine/preppy style than you so I love the casual one

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
