Under-$100 Blazers and Jackets

Jun 20, 2012

Polyvore Set Here.

It’s no secret that I adore Zara.  I’ve had excellent luck with their on-trend, mid-priced pieces.  So when I saw the huge selection of office friendly blazers and tweed jackets filling up their site, I had to share.  If you’d like to add a well-made, under-$100 blazer or jacket to your summer wardrobe, this is definitely the place to go.

  1. I have a Zara blazer from a few years ago, and I have problems with it because it wrinkles so dang easily. Maybe it was my fault for not paying attention to the fabric I was buying, but back then I was no blazer connoisseur, so I wouldn't have known the difference. I haven't shopped there lately though, so maybe I'll take a trip back and see if I can find some better alternatives! I also have been drooling over their coloured blazer options lately…

I always find the buttons are so awkwardly placed on zara blazers, they always seem to be made for really tall people

  3. Caroline says:

I agree with norwegianette. I'm petite and slender, with a short waist, short arms, and narrow shoulders. Finding a blazer that's fitted enough and doesn't cost a fortune is such a challenge (I've found a few at Forever 21, but the quality is obviously not great). I had high hopes when I saw the title of this post, but was disappointed that you mentioned Zara which is ALWAYS boxy on my small frame. Their clothes are just terrible for petite women!

I'm hoping someone who's my size will be able to recommend something– I love the look of a good blazer but I don't wear them because I can't find the right ones for me.

  4. Sarah says:

@Caroline–I think you are right about the blazers and some of their other clothing, but as a very petite person (with a similar body type to what you've described) i've found their dresses to be pretty flattering! Don't know if you've tried many of theirs on, but I have found a few that fit like a glove and are continually complimented when I wear them.

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
