Polyvore Set Here.

For the Office. This dress provides a challenge because the print is so colorful. You could pair it with a palette of neutrals and wear nothing but beige, but where is the fun in that?

I searched high and low for a cardigan that would compliment the dresses purple hues.  I Googled, I Polyvored, I Shopstyled.  Then, on a lark, I checked J.CREW.  Of course, their Jackie Cardigan (which has appeared on this blog more times than I can count) comes in the perfect shade.

I wanted to belt the waist to give structure and definition, but I thought a brown or grey belt might be too obvious.  So I decided to try a navy belt instead.  I think it will be less distracting.

As for the rest of the accessories, I adore this tote.  I only wish it were a bit less expensive.  (This $57 satchel has a similar pattern.)  And as always, I love to pair rings with different textures and shapes.  Here, I paired a light green solitaire with a gorgeous feather band.

For the hair, I would wear it down or half-up/half-down.  I’d also try to put a little texture, some wave, in it.  However, that may not be possible with the current rainy weather.  For the makeup, I would choose a sheer berry gloss and really play up my eyes with some taupe shadow and liner.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, when wearing color, you need to really define the eyes or else you can get lost in the rainbow of hues.

For a Casual Wedding.  I think this dress would be a good choice for a casual afternoon wedding or a rehearsal dinner.  It’s ladylike but not overly prim, and the colors make for a bright, cheery look.

Again, I went for a belt in a hue found in the print of the dress.  I think it makes for a more sophisticated look.  I also chose a simple shoe with a sub-3″ heel so you can dance the night away.  And the bag, so cute and on trend in it’s minty hue, but the shape is classic enough that it won’t be passe next year.

As for the jewelry, I love the chalcedony hoops and the simple bangles from J.CREW.  If you want to try mixing and layering your bracelets to create a Man Repeller-esque Arm Party, these would be a good set to have. The different textures would make them a welcome edition to any jewelry box.

For the hair, I would do a low-side chignon with some volume at the crown.  For the makeup, I would go for a pop of pink of the cheeks, a sheer berry lip and a berry colored mani-pedi.

Oh, Belle, you answered my prayers! I have two summer weddings coming up, and just wasn't finding anything spectacular within my budget. This dress is beyond lovely, and for such a great price! I can promise I will be sporting both outfits to a T very soon. Thank you!

Dumb question — when you post sets with multiple rings, do you intend to wear the rings on different hands or just different fingers on the same hand? Which finger(s)?

  3. Belle says:

Jill-Different fingers. I usually wear them on my middle or pointer fingers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
