So, I’ve been wearing the “Belle” shade from Zoya for several weeks now. After all, when someone names a nail polish after you, you’re sort of obligated to wear it. But this weekend, I wanted to wear a black sequin top to an event, and you can’t wear a copper-coral mani-pedi with black. It’s like wearing a flirty pink sundress to a funeral, something’s just off about it.
Sometimes, a girl just needs, NEEDS, a red polish.
While bloggers across the Interwebs rave about Essie’s Lacquered Up, I’m here to tout the brand’s cherry red shade known as Lollipop. This color is, in my opinion, the quintessential Parisian red. Not too deep, not too bright, but definitely bold. It’s the perfect red polish for summer.
Have you ever tried OPI's “I'm Not Really a Waitress”? It is the best, most universal red I've ever seen. I don't typically buy another bottle of polish after one runs out/dries up beyond salvation. The current bottle will be my third. I find it is the perfect “I need to make a statement, without making a statement, and I can't devote a week to picking out the right shade.”
I have been using Essies Russian Roulette, which is really similar. I think it may have slightly more orange, but it is definitely red and not orange.
Love love love. (Btw, I also got a decent orangy red by layering the orange and pink in the Zoya blogger trio.)
I LOVE Lollipop. It's my go-to red as well, and I swear that every time I have worn it someone has stopped me to ask me for the name, because it's “the perfect red.”
“I'm not a Waitress” fro OPI is a go to shade and is awesome. But definitely gonna try Lolllipop. Thanks for the recommend Belle.
“I'm Really Not a Waitress” is actually OPI's best selling color of all time. It's my go-to winter red. I'll have to check Lollipop out!
Essie's “Fishnet Stockings” is my red nail polish jam. It's great if you want a red that doesn't have even a hint of orange. Now I really want to try the OPI polish everyone is raving about 🙂
