For the Office. One of my favorite relaxed office looks is a feminine blouse and a pencil skirt. With the right accessories it looks very pulled together, and it’s easy to add a jacket if you need. Here, I would tuck in the blouse and belt using the loops on the skirt. I like this inexpensive stretch belt because it will give the snug fit that you need with a pencil skirt.
The accessories are complements of coral and grey, a nice mix of spring hues. The ring is adorable and makes a statement without being overwhelming. It also picks up the color in the handbag.
For the hair, I would wear it up in a lightly pinned, waxy updo. A blouse this feminine deserves hair to match. The makeup I would keep somewhat neutral with a sable eyeshadow and a defined eyebrow. I’d also add a hint of bright blush, like Bobbi Brown’s Peony, to the apples of my cheeks.
For Casual Friday. I love aqua and red together. It’s an unexpectedly chic and bold color combination for those of us who like solids but want to be on the trendier side of fashion.
This jacket from Iro is definitely trendy with motorcycle details and a vibrant crimson color. But it’s a little pricey. If you’re looking for something less expensive, this Sparkle and Fade blazer would be a good substitute.
Because the color palette is so strong, I thought that I would choose some neutral accessories. These patent wedges from Kate Spade are one of those items I keep putting into my online shopping cart and then taking out when I remember what they cost. The bag and earrings also offer simple hints of style. I’d probably also add a couple of silver rings.
For the hair, I would wear it down or in a bouncy ponytail. For the makeup, I would choose a light pewter eyeshadow applied only at the corners of my lids with a charcoal eyeliner and mascara. I’d also paint my nails a vibrant red like this shade from Essie.
I JUST bought the Cindy wedges- they came in last night. I love them so much, they're a teensy bit too small, but they're out of the next size up. I'm debating keeping them anyway. They don't pinch or hurt, just look a little off. But they're SO pretty.
Blouse is gorgeous!
Okay, so I may be obtuse… but… what is a “waxy updo”?
Lane– I'm guessing auto correct on wavy.
Thanks Ellie, that would make sense, and here I was worried there were a whole group of hairstyles I knew nothing about!
Belle, I want to crawl into EVERY Polyvore set you put together. Seriously: I love them all!
I'm curious, for the casual Friday outfit, would you tuck the shirt into the jeans?
These outfits are lovely, but it is really disappointing to see an item picked for its low price point styled with a $500 jacket and $300 shoes. It just feels like it defeats the purpose. Beautiful combinations though.
