Comb Through Hair Care

Apr 17, 2012

From Top, Clockwise: Rickys Sunscreen Comb ($7), 3-Way No Frizz Comb ($7), Argan Enriched Paddle Brush ($21)

Because I have fine hair, I don’t like to put a lot of product in it–especially in the summer when the humidity comes to town.  So I am very intrigued by the idea that I can comb in sunscreen, anti-frizz protection or Argan oil without actually applying product.

New York retailer Ricky’s has created a line of brushes and combs with hair care products baked right in to the plastic.  These tools infuse your hair with enriching products every time you comb without weighing it down.  And given that each product continues releasing product for up to one year from the time of purchase, you should save a fortune on hair care products.

Personally, I am definitely picking up the SUN travel-sized comb for my pool tote.  I spend too much money on my hair color (esp. after the Mall Highlights Incident of 2012) to let it fade away in the sunlight.

I'm skeptical about these? How do you “bake” suntan lotion into a comb? Has anyone ever used this product?

From their website: There is so much to say about these combs that we probably should have named them “miracle combs.” We used a special process of baking olive oil within the plastic as well as NANO. The outcome is a comb that allows for faster drying, and its micro-sized particles fill in the damaged hair to create a seamless surface inhibiting bacterial growth. It eliminates frizz, and is anti-static. It adds a natural soft shine without an oily feeling. This comb also recognizes where excess natural oil deposits are and redistributes them to a proper balance. it also works great for dry cuts by controlling fly away hair.

I had a comb with jojoba baked in a few years ago, it worked.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
