10th Commandment: April 3

Pretty Blossom Tee (TopShop, $72)

Technically, this shirt is made for tall people, but it was so adorable, I had to share.  It would be easy enough to alter it to fit someone of regular height, or you could just wear it as a tunic.  They also sell a petite version for those of you with smaller frames.

Check back at 1:00PM for Two Ways to wear this top.

  1. Lucille says:

wait–how is this different from floral jeans?

  2. Belle says:

Lucille: It's a printed blouse. No different from a dotted blouse or a striped blouse. I wouldn't recommend you put either of those on a pair of skinny jeans either.

The print doesn't have the uniform look of cheap wallpaper or 1970s couch fabric. It's more subtle, less overwhelming.

A person cannot live by solids alone. If you lump all floral prints together in one big basket, then you are doing yourself a disservice. It's like saying, “Abe Lincoln and Sarah Palin are both Republicans. Abe Lincoln is the same as Sarah Palin.”

I love this top! But Belle, you don't think it can be paired with skinny jeans?

  4. Greta says:

Hmmm. Seems to me that this very much resembles the 'garish retina-searing floral-print' of the very jeans you just posted. I actually like the look of both: the floral jeans and this top. not together of course. But with that in mind, i think relegating said garish prints to just our top halves is an equal disservice.

  5. GoGoGo says:

This top is really effing cute and smile-inducing.

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
