10th Commandment: March 23

Mar 23, 2012

Elected Official

Erdem Pleated Lace Skirt (Net-a-Porter, $3,210)

Hill Staffer

Classiques Entier Marion Skirt (Nordstrom, $178)

Unpaid Intern

Halogen Long Pleated Skirt (Nordstrom, $40)

If you buy a mid-length skirt, do NOT wear it with booties.  You need to show some foot in order to lengthen the leg line. If you don’t, it will look like your legs are the same length as a Hobbit’s.

I agree about avoiding booties, but I don't love those platform nude peeptoes in the second photo, either. Any suggestions? In the past, I've worn kitten heels with skirts like these.

  2. R says:

I HAVE to wear heels with skirts of this length, and even then I look like I have wide, stumpy legs. I actually avoid skirts of this length at all cost.

  3. Danielle says:

I really like the flowy, pleated, chiffon skirts lately. Belle, I hope you will post a “how to wear” guide! I have my eye on a few skirts like these, but I am clueless as to what goes on top!

    you're the best!

  4. Heatheresq says:

Agreed on styling. I also wonder how pleats look with hips. Mine are ample enough.

The Find: Bright and Striped

For the past few years, the wardrobes of many influencers have tilted toward the beige and boring.  I’m all for a good basic, but staple pieces can only take you so far.  Sometimes, you need to wear something that has a little something extra, and this sale-priced tee certainly does.
