10th Commandment: One Thin Bangle

Feb 17, 2012

I don’t own many bracelets, but I’m trying to grow my jewelry wardrobe.  So I bought bangles from J.CREW.  I wear them all the time.  And now, my favorite bracelet is sale.

Skinny Bangle ($15)

They’re perfect on their own for a pop of color or with other jewelry for an arm party.  Either way, I highly recommend them.

Belle, I know you've mentioned in other posts that you have very small wrists. How do you wear bangles/bracelets/cuffs? I have teeny tiny wrists as well, and I've basically just given up on ever wearing bangles, because they tend to look silly on me, and are always about to fall off 🙁 Are there particular brands (like JCrew) who make them a little bit smaller?

  2. Maria says:

Thanks so much, Belle! I've been trying to find colorful skinny bangles, so I just bought this one in all three colors on sale. 🙂

  3. Heather says:

Not only are they on sale for $15, but you get an extra 30% off with the SHOPNOW code listed at the top of their page. It makes them just a little over $10.

  4. Belle says:

S: I try to make the fact that they are oversized work for me. I layer them on to overemphasize the size instead of downplay it. Sorry, I don't know if anyone makes smaller bangles.

  5. Katie says:

Ooooooooooh, Man Repeller is going to get you for using “arm party”

  6. Ellie says:

Ha, I can barely get these onto my wrists. The ones like these that are the same circumference, but thicker width I can't even put on.

  7. S says:

Thanks, Belle! i had never even thought of doing that. I'll have to give it a try.

  8. Belle says:

Katie: Let her try. Her credibility is king of shot ever since she admitted that despite her claims of being single, she's been dating someone for years. Way to build your whole blog concept on a lie. It would be like finding out that I work in a restaurant in Toledo, OH.

  9. Katie says:

Belle: Man Repeller's whole schtick is “pile a ton of really ugly and unflattering clothes on top of each other, then take pictures and hope readers take the bait.” Anyone with access to a Goodwill can start a blog like that. For people who work in the real world and don't have designers sending them clothes, it's unattainable and dress up. Anyway, I have no idea why people like Man Repeller and I only know her tangentially through GOMI.

  10. P says:

I have tiny wrists as well, and my solution is buy bangles from Crewcuts, similar look but smaller size

  11. RMS says:

Haha Belle, your comment about Toledo, OH is spot on. That's where I grew up but I escaped to the east coast for school and never went back.

  12. Devinzgrandma says:

I have small wrists as well, so I thought I would never get to enjoy wearing bangles. So you can iimagine my joy when I discovered Amrita Singh bangles! Great deals can be found on discount websites such as Ideeli and Gilt. If you purchase directly from her website, you can get them in three sizes. Here is the sizing chart — and good luck! https://www.amritasingh.com/Sizing

  13. J says:

I second Crewcuts for tiny wrists – the factory stores have them on sale for $7.50 right now.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
