For Casual Friday. If you work in a professional office, this skirt is a bit too hip for every day. But if you choose your separates and accessories right, you could wear it for a fun casual Friday look.
Because the skirt is so funky, I decided to start with a simple ivory, crewneck sweater. To that, I added opaque black tights and chic black booties. To pull the look together, I added a red, skinny belt, which you can wear around the top of the skirt or your natural waist.
As for the accessories, I thought the boho, studded wood earrings were a good choice. They compliment the skirt without adding too much flare. I also like this simple structured flap satchel. The cognac color really adds some warmth to the outfit.
For the hair, I would wear a high, bouncy ponytail or a braided updo. For the makeup, I would do a shimmery gold wash on the eyes with a light coat of liner. On the lips, I would wear a deep ruby, matte lipstick.
For a Dinner Date. This skirt is perfect for an evening out at a trendy restaurant. And the skirt is interesting enough on its own, that you don’t need to do too much to it to make it work for a dinner date.
Here, I added a silky black shell so I don’t distract from the skirt. To liven it up, I topped it with a modern statement necklace that plays with the boho quality of the skirt. To pull the skirt and top together, I added a simple medium-width belt. But if I were wearing this outfit, I would turn the clasp buckle to the back and have the clean line in the front.
Since the skirt is a dip hem, I wanted to lengthen the leg as much as possible, so I added a high, stiletto sandal. And to give it a bit of color, because all black can be boring, I added a red clutch from my favorite bag designer, Rebecca Minkoff.
For the hair, I would do stick straight with a center part. For the makeup, I would once again do the red lip, but I would do grey smokey eye with winged liner and a highlighter on the top of the cheekbones.
Belle – just wanted to say that I've been a fan for years and I think this is one of my favorite outfit posts you've done! Awesome choices.
I was skeptical about that skirt but you did a great job. Love the date night outfit!
I may need to go grab those Mango boots!! Love them.
