Two Ways: Sheer Reiss Blouse

Jan 10, 2012

Shirt: Kara Bell Sleeve Nude Blouse (Reiss, $51)

From Left, Bracelet: Snake Camuto Bangle ($88) Bag: Pour la Victoire Satchel ($207) Shoes: Christian Louboutin Pigalle Spike Pumps (Sold Out) Tank: Shimera Seamless Cami ($26) Skirt: Burberry Leather Trimmed Skirt ($595)

From Right, Earrings: Bronze Teardrops ($13) Bag: Rachel Roy Iconic Bag ($89) Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell Brody Booties ($150) Jacket: Daytrip Heather Blazer ($44, Size Medium Only) Jeans: Levi’s Made & Crafted Skinny ($190)

For the Office. I’ve been craving a leather pencil skirt for some time now, but they are SO expensive.  Like, skip this month’s rent expensive.  This leather trimmed skirt from Burberry is a bit better, but not by much.  However, I think I like a hint of leather more than being swathed in cowhide.  Plus, it would look fabulous with the sheer blouse.

Now, you know my rule about wearing sheers: strapless bra, nude cami.  The Shimera cami linked above is not the one in the photo, but the Shimera is my favorite.  It’s seamless, a medium weight and long enough that it doesn’t ride up.

Currently, covering the cuff of your blouse with a cuff or wide bangle bracelet is my favorite jewelry look.  So I added a black python Vince Camuto bracelet.  I also threw in a pair of unattainable Louboutin Pigalle pumps, because sometimes it’s nice to dream.

This bag may be my favorite piece in the set.  It’s the perfect large satchel for work or travel.  I love the alligator embossing and the notched sides.  It reminds me of the Phillip Lim Pashli satchel but without the $900 price tag.  Gorgeous.

For work, I’d wear my hair in a low side bun with swept bangs.  I’d also wear a pale or bronzed cheek (Stila All Over Shimmer in Kitten owuld be a good choice.) with lots of eyeliner and a light rose-tinted lip.

For Sunday Brunch.  I originally intended this as a weekend travel outfit, but it’s good for brunch too.  The jacket is really cool and comfortable, but if you want it, you better dip over to the Buckle website post haste as it’s sold out in every size but medium.

A pair of skinny jeans and a casual blazer balance out the sheerness and femininity of the blouse.  You would also need a nude cami here (unless you wanted to be daring and wear a full coverage nude bra), but I didn’t add one to the set.  Same recommendation as above.

The bag is a good choice for those of you searching for a small weekender or chic gym bag.  I also like the earrings because they’re a bit different, but not too much of a reach.  But the booties…oh my, Lord…the booties.  I lust for them, and I usually despise clunky shoes, but there is just something about these.  A steal at $150.

Hair should be worn down and wavy.  Makeup should be neutral: taupe eye shadow, light pink lip balm, flushed cheek.  Basically, you want to look like a slightly better rested version of yourself, and on that note, don’t forget the under-eye concealer.

What about dark sheer blouses? I have a navy one and I am struggling on what to wear underneath. Ideally I'd like a silk navy camisole but I'm having trouble finding one.

Nordstrom has some nice leather skirts from their store brands that are under $500.

Ash: Nordstrom's BP BRand makes a cami in navy. https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bp-stretch-camisole-juniors/3211355?origin=keywordsearch&resultback=1081

    Otherwise, I'd wear nude.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
