A girlfriend texted me Saturday with a question that was uniquely D.C. Her office is no longer suits and sheath dresses, but it’s not jeans and athleisure either. “Can an office be ‘semi-formal’?,” she pondered. “What do I wear for that?!” Enter the shirtdress, the solution for summer.
Welcome to the warm weather months. Outside, you will roast. Inside, you will freeze. The air conditioning will be your constant nemesis, as it “conditions” the air to a temperature that is primarily suitable for men. Luckily, this cardigan can keep you warm even when your fiery resentment wanes.
Nora Ephron was right: I feel bad about my neck. As I move through my forties, the creases have turned into chasms. The skin sags like a pair of sweatpants with aging elastic. It’s not great. But it’s just a natural part of getting older. Over the past year, it feels like I’ve tried every […]

This week has been an absolute bear, so let’s reach into the reader mail bag and answer some questions. And let’s start with a post about affordable summer bags.
WOW! I love this! The Asos is my favorite- really striking.
I agree with the Wow and quite a few times, I've like the unpaid intern version the best – this time, sadly, the Narciso Rodriguez is calling my name and that's just not happening.
I love the Oasis, though, um, what are those pants? Pencil skirt, please? I love the way the Narciso is structured, but how what is basically a t-shirt can cost quite that much is lost on me 😛
Now that I look at it again – I really do like the Oasis as well. The colorblocking also looks like it would be very slimming, as opposed to the Narciso. And I have no idea how a shirt can cost that much – I picked up an Escada blouse in Neiman Marcus once that was on sale for $500. Yes, it was well made and much thicker than a blouse from Penney's – but I would have to wear that blouse every day forever for it to be worth it to me. It really was lovely – but, seriously, $500 at 50% off?
