Earlier this week, the fine ladies at Brandlink PR sent me a box of swag full of mini-vodka bottles. (Have I mentioned lately how I love these women like family?) So I thought I might use some of their stellar low sugar, low-calorie vodka to mix myself up a cocktail. There were awesome flavors like orange-vanilla fusion (perfect for making frozen creamsicles) and a raspberry-cocoa that tastes fabulous when mixed with hot cocoa. I, however, decided to give one of their online recipes a try.
1 1/2 oz Voli Lyte
1 oz Pomegranate juice
1/4 oz lemon juice
1/4 oz Agave nectar
Shake ingredients over ice, and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a flamed orange, directions below.
To flame the orange twist use a match or lighter to hold the flame against the outer skin of the orange for a couple of seconds. Hold twist over glass and then squeeze twist so outer skin pops outwards towards glass. The oils of the orange will be released.
Tibi Colette Wool-Crepe Dress (Net-a-Porter, $400)
I suppose I could have posted something in red, but I’ve always heard that the devil is a woman in a blue dress. This Tibi dress is perfect for the winter season and the coming spring. It’s bright, fun and versatile. Wear it to a wedding. Wear it to a dinner party. With tights, booties and a black blazer, you could even wear it to work.
I love that dress! Also the idea to wear it with tights and booties. How do you feel about the opaque black tights/booties look with cocktail dresses in general? Too casual or is it ok for cocktail parties, weddings, etc? I think it gives the outfit a different edge, but interested to hear your opinion.
As long as it's not a black tie event, I'm fine with it. I think it shouldn't be worn outside of the Oct. to Feb time frame, but it looks sleek.
Got those vodkas from BrandLink too — they are GREAT, but I tried popping them in the freezer and unlike low-cal vodkas, these actually froze! Oops.
Great idea on the creamsicles.
The dress should have been a blue Prada!!
