Three Ways: Okay, So It's Just Two

Nov 17, 2011

Last night, I fell asleep with my computer in my lap.  So there’s that.  But I did manage to finish 2/3 of the Three Ways post for today, so here you go.

Jacket: Modcloth ($95) Blouse: Zac Posen ($223) Pants: L’Agence ($295)

Shoes: Ciao Bella ($89) Ring: Olga Prieta ($122) Bag: Marc Jacobs ($528)

The trick to wearing a leather jacket to work is to wear it like it’s a blazer.  Pair it with sophisticated separates and sleek accessories for a subtle rocker vibe.

I love mixing autumn colors into my wardrobe.  This outfit blends shades of brown, olive and amethyst to create the perfect fall color palette.

For hair and makeup, I would say a taupe eye shadow and a berry lip stain.  I’d wear medium purple on my nails.  And I’d style my hair into a loose Gibson roll.

Dress: Tibi ($500)  Jacket: Modcloth ($95)

Shoes: Kate Spade ($325) Bag: DvF ($245)  Earrings: Kenneth Jay Lane ($95)

I love wearing leather jackets with evening attire.  It just adds a cool vibe to the otherwise frilly and prissy dresses. And it the mix of textures with the chiffon and the leather really works.

Here, I added a sparkly navy pump, a cool suede clutch and some artsy-looking chandelier earrings to complete the look.

As for the hair and makeup, I’d wear a neutral, yet shimmery shadow with winged eyeliner and lots of mascara.  I’d also wear my hair wavy and twisted into a low chignon.

The wedding grouping is edgy and nothing short of fabulous.

Love the leather jack for the wedding. Winter cocktail attire always stumps me. Ay other ideas or suggestions to mix it up (and add warm cozy sleeves) for holiday parties, weddings, and all the other events coming up?

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Ask the Editor: Vol. IV, No. Eighteen

Before we start today’s reader questions, I wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about mental health. For those who experience mental health challenges — whether occasionally or frequently — talking about our struggles is a double-edged sword.
