Suzi Chin Three Quarter Sleeve Dress (Macy’s, $159)

I spotted this dress a few weeks ago, and absolutely fell in love.  It had a Rachel Roy vibe that really appealed to me.  So, I skipped my biweekly grocery delivery so that I could own it.

Initially, I was concerned that the bodice might be overwhelming on someone with a small frame and small bust.  Luckily, I was wrong.

I love the fit of this dress.  It’s modern, unique and the belt makes it super flattering on those of us without much of a waistline.  I also adore the material, a heavy matte jersey that is so cozy I might as well be wearing pajamas.

Now, I just have to stop myself from wearing it every day.

So funny you posted this! I saw this dress at Macy's this weekend and just ordered it online yesterday – and blogged about it for tomorrow! Must be a popular fall dress. Isn't it gorgeous?

This is one of my favorite cuts on many levels (knee and sleeve length, the bantam sleeve, multi use color).but that added neckline is what makes it. Great Dress.

It's on sale for $111! And it comes in navy!

Belle, what is your take on the belt it comes with? Decent quality?

Nina-Where did you find it in Navy!?!?

Also, the belt is moderate quality. Not as cheap as I thought, good feel, good look.

Just bought the navy version as well! But would navy dress + navy tights be too much navy?

Belle, please post more cute dresses with 3/4 sleeves – I am on the hunt for dresses that aren't sheath/short sleeve because I need dresses that I won't just throw a cardigan over!

Nordstrom also has it in a great purple! It's not on sale there but they will price adjust to match anywhere else if you ask.

I spotted this in the recent Nordstrom catalogue – and at Nordy's, it comes in purple! https://shop.nordstrom.com/s/suzi-chin-for-maggy-boutique-belted-dolman-sleeve-sheath-dress/3195897?origin=keywordsearch&resultback=0

Question: if you bend over, will you be able to see straight down the dress? I love cowl necks, but as a teacher, who's constantly bending over to talk to kids, I find this is often a problem.

    I'm purchasing the Navy!

To D: I would follow Belle's two-of-three rule – I think navy tights and cognac boots could be ok, though I would probably wear brown tights and brown boots, charcoal tights and charcoal suede pumps, or possibly nude nylons/camel tights (it's cold where I live, going barelegged in the fall/winter is not an option) and aubergine/nude/maroon pumps.

I just bought the Navy one. Very excited. I love affordable work dresses! The only problem? Every girl on the hill will be wearing the same dress next week!

Ladies (who have purchased the dress) – is the material of good weight so as not to be too clingy? I just had my second baby and still fighting the post-pregnancy belly flab, so I need dresses that would cover the tummy pooch (with Spanx ofcourse) and not cling to it.

I've been disappointed with the quality of Suzi Chin dresses I've ordered in the past–thin material, unlined, and instantly wrinkled. Is this one different?

It is sold out in my size in both options. This has ruined my afternoon.

BB-The material is actually very good quality. I was expecting it to be awful, but it is a very heavy matte jersey with a great feel.

Lisa-The cowl (at least on my 32C bust) does not droop at all. It is very thick and heavy, in a good way.

I tried on the short sleeve version from summer (in the dreaded teal 😉 ). I adored the dress on the hanger. My top is a smaller side than my bottom (pear shape), and I have a hard time imagining how it would look if I had it taken in. I saw this version with sleeves and like it more. I'm thinking of trying it anyway. I love this dress. The belt is better than I would expect from an add on belt, and especially at the price point. My fit may not have been right in the version I tried, but I definitely will be looking at their dresses more. I love the modern look, and the uniqueness, at such an affordable price point.

I, too, saw this last week on the Macy's website! I had the opposite concern though — since I'm busty, I was worried the draping would not lay right and add even more bulk. I was at Pentagon Mall last night so I swung by and tried on the cream version. I bought it, and I love it! The fabric is quite heavy but awesome — you could even wear lace under it without it showing through. Very comfortable and stretchy. And very true to size. I'm a pretty consistent 8, but again, it depends on the sizing on top. I bought the last one 8 there – but there were other sizes still. I did not see the navy, but I didn't really look. Anyway, I wore it today and I loved it so much, I went to the Macy's downtown and bought the navy one today. There were quite a few left, including sizes 4 and 6 for those still looking.

I disagree about the belt though, it looks totally cheap. I switched it out immediately.
