BPGP: Crest Whitestrips Professional Effects

Jul 27, 2011

Until last year, I didn’t drink coffee.  But during the lame duck session, I realied the error of my ways and quickly became dependent on the dark liquid of life.  Sadly, my new addiction is wreaking havoc on my teeth.

Before I started drinking coffee like it was water, GoSmile was my favorite teeth whitening product.  It’s portable, tastes great, and if you can pick it up at a Gilt sale, you can save a bundle.  But it is practically powerless against the yellowing caused by coffee.

Back in my pageant days, I used Crest Whitestrips religiously.  And I hated them.

They tasted terrible.  They were messy.  And you had to leave them on for an hour, which when you’re 17, feels like a real time commitment.  But in my stained-tooth desperation, I decided to upgrade to the new and improved Crest Whitestrips 3D Professional Effects.

Unlike their predecessor, these strips aren’t messy at all.  Instead of depositing huge amounts of sticky gel on your teeth, they actually seal to the tooth.  And when you remove them, the amount of film left behind is drastically diminished.

These strips are also much less of a hassle.  They only need to be worn once-per-day for a half hour.  And unlike before, you can also talk, drink water and go on about your day while wearing them.

I’ve been using these strips for four days, and I’m really starting to notice a difference especially on my upper teeth.  They are whiter and look cleaner, and I can’t wait until I finish the pack.

Plus, if you wear them according to directions, the whitening effects should last for a full year.  For a $30 product, that’s a pretty good deal.

I agree, I hadn't done the white strips thing a few years and was FLOORED by the improvements. Advanced Seal is not hype. I will definitely be procrastinating less about my teeth whitening.

Coffee Drinking tip – use a straw to lessen its contact with your front teeth.

I found that P&G and Target often have coupons for them, too ($10 off, usually) so keep an eye out for those in your Sunday papers. At least that was the case in Michigan when I used to lived there a year ago. The only thing more satisfying than bright white teeth are bright white teeth at a discount.

  4. JH says:

I used to try the Crest Whitening Strips back in high school, but I had to stop because apparently my teeth are ultra-sensitive. Any draft in the room would make me cringe and I can't even use whitening mouthwash. Does anyone have any suggestions for a teeth-whitener that won't cause me so much pain??

  5. MM says:

JH – I had the same problem when I tried a few years ago – I'm wondering if the new ones would be an improvement. When I feel like my teeth are getting really dingy I brush with straight baking soda, and that helps – I've been told not to do that every day though b/c it could hurt the enamel or something (however it's supposed to be great for gingivitis) – so maybe check with your dentist about that. I also use a toothpaste with baking soda in it (Toms of Maine) daily – not sure that it's helped that much, but it doesn't cause any sensitivity for me.

  6. Bekki says:

JH – Your dental hygenist/dentist should be able to give you prescription flouride toothpaste to use in addition to normal toothpaste that helps tooth sensitivity. I have extremely sensitive teeth and use these with no problems, but I have the prescription toothpaste. Obviously everyone is different, though you may check with your dentist for flouride treatments and toothpaste to see if it helps.

Thanks, Belle, I love your advice! In addition to having purchased the Clairsonic about two years back, I've now ordered the Whitestrips you described. I had still been using the same old kind I'd been using for years, without the seal. Silly me, this sounds so much better.

For everyone else: by Googling “crest white strips coupon,” I found a $7 coupon for it on Amazon, and I just ordered the product for $29.99.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
