Three Ways: Orange Striped Scarf

To wear this scarf with a belted jacket, you would wear it inside the jacket like in this YouTube video.  (Yes, I know the show Commander-in-Chief was littered with inaccuracies but try to ignore that.)  To do this conservatively, you would also need to add a flesh-colored camisole.

If you have a lot of long scarves at home (and after the past few years, who doesn’t?), layering them under a blazer is a great way to spice up a work wardrobe.  It works best with thin scarves to avoid bulk.  Also, I recognize that white and red might be a lot for some of you to consider.  You could also do a full white suit, a navy suit or a navy blazer with the red skirt.

It’s pretty chilly out West.  Raining every day.  Cloudy.  Even snowing overnight.  In June.  My poor Mother is on suicide watch.  So I thought I might craft an outfit for those of you who haven’t seen a sundress or its namesake in weeks.

Recently, I’ve started wearing two scarves at the same time.  Overkill?  Not if you do it right.  Buy one neutral scarf and one patterned scarf.  Make sure they are roughly the same length.  Then twist them together, and wrap around the neck as usual.

Also, I know that this cardi is unbelievably expensive ($405), but it’s not exactly sweater season, so these things are not easy to find in every price point.  So take it as inspiration, nothing more.

This outfit would also be great for a plane or a late season beach vacation.  And seriously, how great is that bag?

The Polyvore link (to Net-a-Porter) is sold out of the smaller sizes in the navy dress, but Shopbop has them.  They also have the dress in pink.  So if you like it, I would start there.

Because I like the neckline of this dress, I don’t want to wear the scarf around my neck.  Luckily, there are other ways to wear it.  In your hair, for example.

This scarf could be worn as a headband with beach waves for a look ala Jackie O.  You could also tie it around a low ponytail for a pop of color.  I wouldn’t wear it around a high ponytail, however.  Unless, of course, you want to look like a bobbysoxer.

If neither of these options appeals to you, you can add a pop of color by tying the scarf around the handle of your tote.  It adds a little bit of chic to any casual bag.

Too Many Tabs: April 19, 2024

This week, I fell mindlessly into my phone more than I think I ever have. My screen time went from 3.5 hours per day to 5 hours per day. But the increased eye strain did lead to some good finds. Just going to leave this right here.  (I really need to work on “Didn’t make […]
