For whatever reason, I’m really into white blazers right now. And while the one in the set above may be a bit out of a Hill Staffer’s price range, this blazer from White House Black Market is just as lovely in a much lower price point.
As I mentioned this morning, I own a similar grey and yellow blouse and I usually wear it in the summertime with a white suit. But you could also wear it with a grey suit or mix the separates as I did above.
I really love mixing yellow and green. I often wear an emerald ring with a lemon quartz ring and some gold stack rings. It’s a really nice color palette that works on a lot of skin tones, and it’s not too matchy-matchy.
For those of you who prefer to skip the jacket in the warm weather months, a light, three-quarter sleeve cardigan could be a nice choice. Here, I’ve mixed a simple yellow cardi with a skinny belt in the same yellow shade. I could have chosen a grey belt, but because the blouse is such a bold print and I intended to add green shoes, I wanted to keep a consistent line without sacrificing the waist detail.
Also, how cute are the little, green drop earrings?
The one thing that I truly love about D.C. in the summer is that all the restaurants open up their patios. There is nothing better than sipping a cocktail outside on a nice day. This look is casual enough for a day-drinking excursion or brunch, but it could also be worn to an early dinner date or birthday party.
I like white denim for summer. The key to getting it right is to really pay attention to the rear view. The pockets need to be the right size and placement for your tush, and the leg line should be trouser, flared or straight. Very few women can wear skinny white denim well.
Another summer staple is the metallic, flat sandal. This shoe, from Michael Kors, could be worn with jeans, dresses and shorts to a wide variety of events. Mix it with some gold earrings and simple cuff, and you can add sparkle to any wardrobe.
Love the way you mixed yellow & green, especially in the casual office look! Those shoes are amazing.
Belle,
I love, love all of these suggestions. I am so scared of print and own nothing but solids, but I may branch out!
I see that the grey shoes are suede. Are suede shoes acceptable year round now? I have the BEST pair of grey pumps and purple pumps in suede, but always put them away from March to October. thoughts?
ahh. i want EVERYTHING. Those green shoes are to die for.
