Casual Attire: A Flouncy Skirt

Apr 13, 2011

Last week, I decided to break my no-shopping-until-we’re-sure-the-government-won’t-shut-down rule to take advantage of the Ann Taylor 30-percent-off sale.  Why?  Because they had the perfect flirty, pleated skirt in the most adorable dot pattern, and I had to have it.  But how to wear it?

Polyvore Set Found Here.

With it’s neutral, navy color and classic styling, this skirt is perfect for mixing prints.  I chose a striped, navy top and layered on a coral cardigan.  If I was going to skip the belted cardigan, I would wear a long or chunky necklace.

How cute are those shoes?  They’re also $20-off at Piperlime.  They are the perfect blend of summer cool and sexy.  Love ’em!  Add a simple crossbody bag and coordinating gold jewelry, and your all set.

Seriously, I cannot wait to wear this skirt.  Perhaps, I will go spin on a mountaintop like Julie Andrews so it can have it’s moment in the sun.  Then again, I’d have to find a mountain and they are in short supply around here.

I love that skirt. I was also waiting, but I might not now.

I love that skirt and the St. James top, which I actually have in navy blue with white stripes! Would you reccommend wearing the St. James top to work, and if so, how?

I adore the skirt, but it's a little out of my reach right now (I have three family birthdays and Mother's Day within the same week next month) – does anyone know of a similar one at a lower price point?

Love that skirt! I actually bought it last week, and wore it with a green sweater. I like your styling for warmer weather! Though as much as I like the idea of spinning on a mountaintop in that skirt, I don't myself hiking Old Rag in it just so I can have the excuse.
    🙂

FYI: Ann Taylor just started a 40% everything sale, and they usally price match for 14 days from the original purchase.

A few months ago, my husband killed two of my plants. I was out of town for several weeks, and while I was away, he apparently forgot that plants need water to live. So when I returned, my snake plant and my Calamondin tree were both dead, while his braided money tree continued to thrive. […]

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
