Elie Saab is a Genius

When people ask me to describe my perspective as the editor of Capitol Hill Style, I always tell them that I’m focused on the practical rather than the aspirational.  But every once in while, it’s nice to dream.  To immerse yourself in a deep, languid pool of designer fashions and fantasize about the day when your wealthy, handsome husband comes to whisk you away from the Chinese Water Torture that is the Continuing Resolution and off to a land where women wear Elie Saab to work.

Where ladies are impeccably tailored…

…ravishing in red…

…gorgeous in grey…

…perfect in peplums…

…wonderful in wine…

…and sublime in sequins.  Seriously, sequins.

And where a woman can reach into her wallet for a black Amex card and purchase this frothy, sparkly gown just because she feels like it.

But alas, this world of perfectly draped wool and sequin stitched chiffon is just a dream.  I live in a world of poly-blend, track pants and Uggs.  Nightmarish.

Wow. My office is a bit casual for most of that, but wow. So, if money were no object, because I'm sure it is – where would you purchase said items in the DC area?
