Trendspotting: Tied in Knots

Mar 2, 2011

Last week, I shared my love of tassels.  This week, it’s knots.

Polyvore set found here.

Why am I so enamored with these embellishments?  I’m not entirely sure, but I think it’s because they make a piece interesting without being overwhelming.

I’ve never cared much for large prints and I shy away from shiny fabrics.  Knots and tassels appeal to me because they add something architecturally without sacrificing simplicity.  Take the dress at center, for example.  It is a lovely color, but without the knot, it’s just another sheath.  With the knot, it has a subtle drama that makes it really special.

If you’re looking for an embellishment that doesn’t overpower, a piece tied in knots may be for you.

I die for the orange Topshop blouse! It would be the perfect way to add drama to some of my boring pencil skirts for work.

Hey, I just bought the same Seychelles flat in red! Very well-made and EXTREMELY comfortable, even for my wide feet.

The Range: Spring Blouses for Work (or Zoom)

Since Sloane was born, I’ve fallen hard into a black, white, and blue wardrobe. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but as spring blooms, I need a little color in my wardrobe (and probably a little print too). Here are a few tops that caught my eye for work.
