10th Commandment: February 2

Feb 2, 2011

It’s almost time to start thinking about trench coat weather, again.  The Banana Republic coat is on sale (25% off), and despite my growing dislike for BR products, I own this coat, and it’s held up well.

  1. AL says:

Love the classic trench. I have a Zara trench coat – similar to this one – and get rave reviews on it all the time.

  2. EG says:

I have the BR trench in black, and really like it aside from the seemingly random flap of fabric over the top button on one side. Kind of odd.

  3. valerie says:

Belle- curious to know why you dislike BR products. They're not the most original (one should go elsewhere for a $200 cocktail dress or $100 jewelry, for example), but they do have sturdy, tailorable (!) basics. Just asking as a budget-savvy girl who loves massive seasonal sales at these types of stores.

  4. Belle says:

Valerie-I've had three blouses in a row that fell apart after one wear. BR has really lost something in the quality dept. over the past 18 months.

  5. b says:

Any tips on how to keep my belt from falling out when I wear it open?

  6. Belle says:

I had my tailor stitch my belt to the belt loops. He charged me $2.

It’s allegedly spring. However, for every minute of sunshine, there seems to be an hour of rain and gloom. So while I’d love to wear lighter spring pieces, it’s time to bring on the layers.

Business Casual Outfit: Linen Closet

And just like that, it’s April. Summer is almost upon us, and the retailers are filled with linen wares. Now, you know that I am usually unwilling to wear linen to work due to the wrinkles. But in this post-pandemic world, perhaps my mind can change.
