10th Commandment: October 28

Oct 28, 2010

I know that I have a no shorts policy on this blog, but my love of sequins trumps everything.  It also helps that these are loose fitting and meant to be worn with tights.

I saw a girl wearing shorts with booties walk into the cannon building this morning. Even though she looked cute I couldn't help but think of the look on her coworkers faces. I would send her home.

  2. Shannon says:

I don't know why, but I'm deliriously happy to live in a world that includes, “Sequined Party Shorts.”

  3. Belle says:

As the name suggests these are strictly party attire. I also think the loose fit helps conceal the flaws. I certainly wouldn't wear them without the tights. But I thought they would look cute with a loose fitting white silk blouse, a big necklace and some booties or cute pumps. I wouldn't wear them with tall boots though, that is def. jumping the shark.

As I clicked this link from Twitter I simultaneously said “Belle likes sequin shorts?” “There must be a guest blogger today” LOL I love them!

  5. Belle says:

Sometimes, you have to be willing to step out your comfort zone. I thought I would hate them, but I tried them on and thought they were great.

  6. Meg says:

Belle, I think you just found my New Years party outfit for me! Sequin shorts, tights, booties, and a silk top – Love.

  7. Danae says:

Have you seen the Golden Fleece Bolero at anthropologie? I'm in love…with a jacket.

  8. Michelle says:

Those shorts are a little too 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' for my liking.

  9. EAC says:

Danae, that jacket is fierce. I had to laugh at one of the reviews, though. Who in the heck would pick out that jacket, thinking that they could wear it to work?!!

  10. Belle says:

Danae, the jacket is neat but on my long torso, no bueno.

I think you could wear it to work IF you do something creative like advertising, graphic design, manage a gallery. But it's def not for the Hill, and this is coming from the queen of sequins as work attire.

  11. Kristen says:

I saw someone wearing them on another blog and they actually looked good. I kind of want to try them, but I don't know if I would like how they would look on me.

Beauty Review: Bondi Boost

As I age, I notice many changes in my body. Most are fine. Some are frustrating. Like many women, I lost a lot of hair in my postpartum phase. Being anemic for more than a year after, it didn’t grow back in to its former glory. So I’ve tried any number of shampoos, pills and […]

I remember when Rochelle Behrens launched The Shirt — a button-down blouse with anti-gape technology (a patented internal button that keeps the look smooth). The idea seemed brilliant, but at the time, my bust didn’t require an extra button. One baby later, I understand the need for some extra security.

The Mondays: March 18, 2024

This weekend was a tricky one. The warm weather and bright sunshine of last weekend disappeared in a flurry of wet snow trapping our very active 18-month-old in the house with us. Plus, our babysitter cancelled, so neither of us feels ready for the week ahead. But in between making mac-and-cheese and watching Aristocats for […]
