10th Commandment: September 28

Thakoon Dolman Draped Dress (Shopbop, $1,355)

I tried hard to find items for today’s 10th Commandment.  I really did.  But once I saw this dress from Anna Wintour protege Thakoon, I was powerless to complete my task.

I’m smitten.  I’m starstruck.  And I’m unable to pollute this post with reasonable facsimiles of this dress, because no fiscally feasible frock could ever live up to the original.

Hopefully this blight is only temporary, and I’ll be back tomorrow with something that even an intern can afford.  But until then, I think I’ll just stare.

Absolutely stunning! Exactly what I wish I were wearing on a dark and rainy day like today : )

  2. E says:

    How much is it? Link?
    Gorgeous.

  3. Belle says:

Sorry guys, that was some critical information that I left out. Fixed.

  4. E says:

Well, my dreams are crushed now. officially.
That + rent = > my monthly paycheck. By a lot.
    Sigh…

  5. KB says:

NECESSARY. Needs to be in my closet… totally can't afford though 🙁

  6. Ms. B says:

The whole ensemble is a feast for the eyes.

  7. Page says:

I generally like or love the pieces Belle posts here…but I have to say…this does nothing for me. Maybe it's the drapiness (is that a word?) of the fabric, or the weird “V” appearing to point at the crotch…but I have to say I'm not a fan. I tend to carry weight in my middle, so maybe I just can't see this style on me. In any case, at least this means I won't want to spend $1300 on a dress…

    Time for more sweater dresses?

  8. Sarah says:

Yes!! Especially A-line sweater dresses in fun colors? (I have two very different black A-line sweater dresses… but don't think I can justify another black one.) Would love some recommendations!

My dark under eye circles have been the bane of my existence since I was 12. Is the cause lack of sleep? Dehydration? Sinus issues? Stress? Who the hell knows. But there they are, every day, telling the world that I am an exhausted working Mom.

Sloane loves the pool. She jumps from the deck into the water with a crash, never considering her own safety, only to emerge on the surface, shouting “Again!” The pool is my daughter’s happy place. But no place where I need to wear a swimsuit in public is a happy one for me.

The Mondays: July 22, 2024

The Crowdstrike/Microsoft Meltdown forced me to take a few days off this weekend. No laptop. No billable hours. So we packed Sloane up for a visit to a local llama farm, stopped by the pool, went for coffee, etc. Few things are as funny as watching a 23-month old feed carrots to a ravenous rescue […]
