10th Commandment: February 15

Feb 15, 2010

After my escalator tumble last week, my legs look like they went nine rounds with Iron Mike Tyson.  Most painful is the bone bruise on my left knee cap, but despite the ache, the bruise is the most beautiful eggplant color.  This prompted me to buy a new deep purple eyeliner, proving that fashion inspiration can be found anywhere.  And since I shorted you ladies on Friday, I thought I would post a bit today to make up for it.

Lea Michelle, star of the television smash hit Glee, has been rocking the sweetheart strapless dress on the red carpet this season.  If you’ve never tried on a sweetheart dress, let me just say that it is the small chested girl’s best friend.

  1. Sigh. These don’t feel comparable (not for your lack of trying, I’m sure)! The ShopBop dress is so much more beautiful than the other two. I want!

  2. Mik says:

I think the second dress is definitely the most beautiful. I am not a fan of the last dress, but maybe because of the model or the picture quality.

  3. kim says:

OMG! I totally love you for finding makeup inspiration in the color of your bruise! May I quote you on my blog?? That is the best! "The most beautiful eggplant color…which prompted me to buy a new deep purple eyeliner" I Live! That, my friends, is passion;)

Oh and my vote is for dress #2

The Find: A Striped Tee

Without question, the most worn item in my wardrobe is a black-and-white striped tee. I wear it in winter under sweaters, in spring with white jeans, in summer with black shorts. I’ve been wearing the same one for years (it’s the best). But they don’t make it anymore. So here are some options for replacement.

Three Outfits I’ll Wear All Spring

When I started this blog, influencers still re-wore clothes. There were no haul videos filled with the latest from Shein before it winds up in a beach in Ghana poisoning the planet. There were no sponsored campaigns delivering fresh wardrobes each month. The content machine doesn’t like reruns.

The Find: Like a McCall’s Pattern

When I was young, my Mother used to bring me along when she would go shopping for fabric. As a result, I spent a lot of time, killing time, flipping through pattern books. So when I spotted this dress, I was instantly transported to the pattern table at a Jo-Ann Fabrics.
