V-Day Date Week: A Primer

Feb 9, 2010

We here at Capitol Hill Style love Valentine’s Day.  Okay, strike that.  Miss M loves Valentine’s Day. I like that on February 15th, I can buy bags of candy for half-price.  Nevertheless, the entire CHS Team recognizes that in a city full of young professionals whose lives are dominated by work, Valentine’s Day is one of the few times when we take time out of our busy schedules to spend time with the ones we love.

This week, we’ll be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a very special Date Week.  Each day, the morning post will feature an idea for a great Valentine’s Day date.  The afternoon post will then feature an outfit that will be perfect for said date.  If you sent in an Ask Belle or a question for “He Said, She Said,” those will also be answered in turn.

Let the games begin.

Love this idea, but how about at the end of the week suggesting a few fun, Girls Night Out spots for those up us sans Valentine this year. Besides, if your girlfriends are at the top of your "Loved Ones" list, who is? Thanks!

    That is a great idea!

Sometimes you have to see a piece of clothing in the wild to truly appreciate it, seeing it in the store just isn’t enough. Grey jeans, for example. On a shelf, not for me. At brunch, on a woman who looked relaxed and chic? Now, I need them.

2013 Outfit Restyle: Bring the Tweed

The theme of 2013 was more is more. Wearing a bracelet? Wear five. Add a belt. Add a necklace, maybe two . . . make it three. So when I look at outfits from a decade ago, my first instinct is always: do less.
