Olivia Palermo is one of my favorite fashion influencers. If I could have anyone’s wardrobe, hers would rank near the top of the list. So when I spotted this incredibly chic, simple and easy to recreate look on Pinterest, I had to remake it.

This outfit has four elements: a belted dress, a double breasted blazer, a chic semi-sheer tight, and a pointed toe high heel. Yes, Olivia is actually wearing white gloves here, but we’re not doing that. Neither Michael Jackson’s ghost, nor the Great Houdini works here, so no gloves. Let’s start.
The Dress and Belt. The inspiration dress is crepe, crewneck, a-line, with a belted waist and a detail on the bodice. A tough find. Instead, I pulled in this a-line, cinched waist dress from Antonio Melani (it needs to be hemmed, but what doesn’t?). Theory has a similar boatneck style, and Quince has a very affordable option.
If I was reaching into my closet, I would pull out my VB Elthea dress. It’s knit, not crepe, and the skirt is pleated, not a-line, but it has similar vibes. It also comes with a belt. And speaking of belts…
This one from ba&sh is perfect for this look. It has no metal hardware to create contrast, but has a medium width and fantastic shape. I highly recommend. Need a <$60 option? Nordstrom has one for you. Having the belt at the natural waist really pulls the whole look into this wonderfully structured hourglass.
The Blazer. Double breasted, all white (no contrast buttons here), and draped beautifully over the shoulder. If you, like me, can never pull that look off, apparently, a safety pin is the answer. (I get paid to share fashion tips on the Internet, and it never occurred to pin it. Okay, Abra…) But I digress.
This Argent blazer is the dream. It’s perfectly tailored and slightly oversized without being huge. But, it’s linen…a choice I rethought after the graphic was made. This Maje jacket also caught my eye, as did this Reiss one.
The Tights in the photo are these cut-out bow tights. I really liked them. And to my job, in a state legislature, I would wear them with a very conservative outfit. These Falke tights also caught my eye. But if I want a more unique tight, I would just choose a small dot pattern or a lattice knit.
Accessories. Keep it simple and chic with a pointed toe heel. I’m at a place in my life where I need to invest in good shoes that will probably last the rest of my life with proper cobbler maintenance. So, for me, this Stuart Weitzman shoes are it. If that is not for you, try Cole Haan.
The sunglasses are an affordable, classic pair that are polarized, which is tough to find in this price point. These Krewe shades are the designer counterpart. And to finish the look, I chose a simple, affordable ring that is one you can wear anywhere.
Styling. Hair is down, loose. If you’re looking for the perfect texture spray, I still love Kevin Murphy’s bedroom hair. The makeup is natural and simple, with the perfect rosy lip. This Gucci ‘Call It a Day’ one is my favorite.

A recent hack I sort of accidentally discovered for myself is using running bib magnets instead of safety pins in situations like this where you could hide it under the blazer collar. No risk of damaging the fabric, they’re really strong, and I already had them on my dresser from races. I’m using some today to keep sleeves cuffed on a blazer! I have these that come on both black and white: https://a.co/d/07zsme0P
