A little over a year ago, I wandered into the Soma store in Spokane and bought a pair of pajamas. Did I need a pair of pajamas? Honey, I always “need” a pair of pajamas, even when I don’t need a pair of pajamas. And these were pretty fantastic pajamas, so I wrote about how much I loved them, and how I also snagged a couple of good bras at wicked sale prices. Soma quickly became a part of my regular pajama rotation.
Fast forward to last month, when Soma asked if I would want to partner for a sponsored post. The rules for the sponsorship were simple, I got to talk about any Soma product I wanted — no pre-approval, no demands. With that kind of freedom, to work with a brand I already like, I was interested, but I needed to check something first. So I wandered back to that same store and bought another pair of pajamas (because in fashion, things change fast), and once I knew that the quality was just as good as my prior purchases, I agreed to write about Soma again. So this post is #sponsored, but for a brand I’d talk about and have talked about without the extra monetary support.

I love a real pajama. Wearing a cozy, soft pajama just makes going to bed feel more like an experience. I put them on, I dim the lights, I drink a warm beverage, and I relax. Or try to, at least. It’s the nightly routine that I need to try and turn off my brain.
This dotted plum pattern from Soma is one of my favorites for this season. You can mix and match the shirt with shorts or pants, or swap it out for a tank. I like the classic style, but if you sleep hot, you might want a different combo. Or you may want to try their Cool Nights pajamas with a moisture wicking fabric — I haven’t tried them yet, but I am probably heading that way as lowering progesterone levels are making it tougher to stay cool at night.
Also, if you have any middle-age sleep tips, leave them in the comments. Lord knows, we could all use them.

Their Cool Nights sleep tees are my ride-or-die. I’m already a hot sleeper, so I need bare legs, and they’re just the right length to feel sassy, while still giving plenty of coverage without feeling frumpy.
And the Soma PJs have POCKETS!
I Love the cool nights line as well as all their invisible edge panties (the only kind I wear)
I’m almost 41 and haven’t entered perimenopause yet (as far as I can tell…) so take these recommendations with that grain of salt:
– we have a ceiling fan. It is remote controlled, and the remote lives on my bedside table. If I wake up hot, I grab the remote and click it on.
– I bought a folding bedside fan for travel and now it also lives on my bedside table for times the ceiling fan isn’t enough. It’s quiet, powerful, and I cannot live without it.
– I struggle to turn my brain off, have tried everything you’ve heard of, and the only thing that works 100% of the time is the Slumber app. There are sleep meditations and original stories, but I love it for the classic audio books like Anne of Green Gables and The Secret Garden. They’re the actual story with very slight alterations to keep it calm (someone will cry instead of wail, or pass away instead of die) read by a low, gentle British voice with the book broken up into separate episodes. You can also set white noise to play in the background while the episode is played and have the white noise continue for a set amount of time *past* when the episode ends. It’s $40/year for the ad-free version, but so worth it (they offer a week free trial); pair with some inexpensive “sleep ear buds” if you share a bed.
Weighted eye mask has been a gamechanger for me the last few years. If i forget it on a trip, i struggle to fall asleep.
I love Soma pajamas and never see them mentioned. You can get different sizes for tops and bottoms, and they have pockets! I saw someone say pajama pockets are superfluous. I guess they don’t lounge in their pajamas, and therefore don’t need a place for their phone. 🙂
It’s rare for me to scoop a blogger, but I did here. LOVE Soma pajamas, was first recommended to me by a friend who wore them religiously in her pregnancy and post-partum. I own three pieces of Cool Nights pajamas (two “chemises” and a pair of boxers) and I love them. They are workhorses and I will never stray.
I have shopped at Soma for years and love their pajamas (esp the pockets!) but have had a harder time since they don’t offer as many tall/longs in the bottoms. Please ask them to bring them back!
